"Dear diary"
It reads
"This sucks
I've never written in a diary journal thing
Or whatever beforeThis is the first time I did this, the nurses handed these out during the quarantine admission to "boost morale" or something
You might think this is gonna be some, "oOOo0o spookyy" zombie apocalypse journal you'd find in an abandoned building
Not going to lie, there is the possibility, but considering how fast the epidemic was stopped
It's probably not gonna happen
What IS gonna happen, though, is me waiting, waiting for 1 year just to make sure I'm not infected.
We were moving that day
We were gonna be at a new house, me and my sisters going to a new school
In a brand new cityBut there was a quarantine checkpoint
The protocol was that we had to quarantine for 1 year
Because the government said soBut
My dad needs to start right away at his new jobWent ahead and made a deal with his cousin
Who worked as an officerUncle Jerr knew some guys who worked at the checkpoint
He said he could sneak us in
We just had to stick together and stay out of sightAh corruption
I can see why politicians do thisWe got there
It was early morning
Wasn't as crowded as it looked on TV
When they broadcasted the quarantine proceduresIt was quiet
Some armed guards stood by some large white tents
Few were sitting down or eating breakfast, and few were sleepingBut most of them stood alert
The officer that Uncle Jerr knew, led us to one tent
Told us that we just had to wait in one of the lines
And we could go through by 9 amBecause we were in the final admission area where the people who previously went through quarantine could get finalized and finally get through
We were early here so we could just basically stand around
But when 8 rolled aroundPeople started coming in
A crowd walked in where we did an hour agoSome looked at us weird, probably wondering why we were here earlier, but didn't question it
It was basically smooth sailing from here
Some guy ran in
Tested positive in the previous test for the infectionFuckin spat on the people inside the tent
The fucker got caught
And we still had to quarantine for 5 monthsAnd now here I am
In a tent
With a bedRotting away until I die
Wish I died for real thoGod this is so boring"
The entry ends
With a rose doodleWith a flip to the next page
A crinkle a crackle of old paperMore doodles pop up
Well intentioned scribbles of half naked menCross hatched, shaded
Some doodles colored with pencils and crayonsColors contrasting and complementary blended in milky combination
