Julianna
I pant, out of breath. I am really out of shape.
Jake eyes his watch before looking back up at the school. "We made it back in time!" He exclaims, throwing his hands in the air from his enthusiasm.
He then turns to look at me, still out of breath,
"You good?" He asks, walking back towards me, putting his hand on my back softly.
"Oh—uhh...ye-yeah." I respond, speaking between breaths.
"Hmm." Jake hums, eyeing me. "Stand up and put your hands on your head."
"Huh?" I ask, looking at him questioningly.
"Just put your hands on your head!" He replies cheerfully, grabbing my hands and placing them on my head himself.
"Helps with the breathing." Jake admits, swaying back and forth.
"Yeah it does." I affirm, smiling back.
"You know—if you want, I can help give you some techniques. Not now, but when school starts." He quips, hands in his pockets.
"Techniques?" I ask, still having my hands on my head.
"Yeah. If you want to perform well, you need good breathing control to sing while dancing. I want to give you some breathing techniques that work for me." He bubbled, shrugging at his suggestion.
"Yeah, I'd definitely like that." I agreed, smiling, finally putting my arms down.
"Sounds good. I would ask for your number but you probably don't have your Korean number set up yet." Jake says while changing his expression to a face that implies he's thinking. He then pulls out a scrap of paper or some sort of gum wrapper before using the pen in his blazer jacket. "You can take mine though and put it in whenever you get your number." He adds, smirking at me before writing his number down, using his hand as a stand.
I nod before he hands me the slip. "I had fun today." I admit, not wanting this moment to end.
"I did too. I'm glad you finally loosened up some." He recites, still slightly smiling.
I look around before asking him a question I've had our entire time together. "Won't you get in trouble for leaving campus with me?"
"Nah. The principal knows me." He replies, swaying his hand while giving me another one of those addicting chuckles.
I nod before there's a long pause of silence between us, once again broken by Jake not too much later.
"I want to get to know you more, but I have somewhere to be." He adds, frowning a bit as he peered at his watch.
A frown must have unconsciously appeared on my face as well, which was clearly and quickly detected by Jake.
"Don't worry though. Whenever you get your phone activated, don't be afraid to text me." He says, smiling and reassuring me. He approaches me, arms wide open.
Surprisingly, he hugs me, which definitely makes me flush even redder than I already am. I reciprocate his hug. He feels like a warm blanket as he wraps his arms around my waist. He smells like a fresh, fruity citrus with a hint of fruity pebbles and marshmallows...for some reason. Either way, the smell and his touch is making me feel some type of way. I pull into his hug harder as I wrap my arms around his broad, strong shoulders, embracing this hug, feeling as if I am melting into him. His arms slowly fell to my bum. I've never been this close to a guy—this feels so wrong, but it also feels so right—and good. Have I been missing out on this for all of my teen years?
