Carson pulled up to a field dead in the middle of no where. Well you can't say no where because it was surrounded completely by fields. But to a city girl that is no where. From here you could see some trees about 5 acres off. The golden wheat of the field blew in the morning breeze. Carson opened the door turning to me, "Just one second." He said before running around the front of the truck and opening a gate made into part of the old thin wire fence and wooden posts. He got back in the truck and drove into the ruts leading into the field stopping on the other side. He got out once again and ran to close the gate. I took this chance to run my fingers through my hair and use the hand crank to open the window. When Carson came back and hopped in the truck opening his window. He turned the radio on blasting the words of Carry On by Fun through the truck. I sang along loudly. Carson looked at me and let out a low chuckle causing my face to flush red. I stopped singing and looked out the window hiding my face with my hair. Carson reached over and turned down the radio. "Why did you stop?" He asked.
"Because you started to listen."
"You're good. You know?"
My face heated up even more. "Thanks"
He reached over and pushed the hair behind my ear his fingers leaving a trail of tingles along my cheek bone. It took me till now to realize we had come to a stand still and the loud engine of the truck could no longer be heard. "I really mean that." He said his voice barely above a whisper. "I love your voice." I felt heat rush back to my cheeks. He leaned closer to whisper in my ear, "You blush too easily." He chuckled before turning and getting out of the truck leaving me stunned and in silence in the front seat. I finally got up the energy to get out of the truck. As I opened the door I caught the end of a phone conversation that Carson was having, "Mason, I can't fuck this up again she means so much and I barely know her. Ya well I gotta go see you at home."
I walked around to the tailgate of the truck hoping up and sitting down beside Carson. "It's beautiful," I say referring to the view of a tree covered ravine with a small lake hidden in the vast fields surrounding us. "How did you ever find this place?"
He let out a chuckle. "You really are a city girl,eh?" I nodded. "Well seeing as we are sitting in the middle of my family's farm it was pretty easy to find."
"Oooohhhh. Ya I'm not around farms much." I said wrinkling my nose.
He laughed again. I turned to face him giving him a questioning look. I raised my eyebrows, "Why am I so funny? How come you are always laughing at me?"
"Because," He turned away from me looking up into the clouds "You are too adorable for your own good." He looked back at me his eyes a shade darker I gazed into his eyes as they flickered to my lips asking for permission. I leaned forward and our lips brushed. It wan't the same as the last kiss we had shared in the pool this was more gental and it held more feelings. It was the best kiss ever and the fact that I could feel tingles shooting through me just like fireworks made me smile against his lips. He traced his tounge along my bottom lip but I pulled away. "Sorry," He said a scarlet colour rising on his cheekbones, "I shouldn't have kissed you."
I put my hand on the smooth skin of his cheek making him turn towards me. I studied every inch of his face and smiled. "I like kissing you," I said as a blush started rising on my cheeks to match his now crimson ones, "But I don't do the whole tongue thing." He gave me a questioning look furrowing his eyebrows together so I continued, "I just don't get it. Like seriously how is that whole thing supposed to work?" I ask turning to face him. He looks at my serious face and laughs.
"That is a perfect example of you being too adorable for your own good." I wrinkle my nose at his comment. He leans down planting a soft kiss on the tip of my nose. He scoots back lying down on the blanket he has spread in the bed of the truck. He pats the space beside him and I lie down leaving a foot of space between us. He chuckles for the umpteen time. and wraps his arm around my waist pulling me closer to him. I lie on my side my head on his chest. Our legs tangle together. He holds me close with his arm around my waist the other arm tucked behind his head.
I don't know how long we lied there in silence but it must have been a while. The sun was starting to get lower and the afternoon heat was beginning to fade the sounds of crickets and frogs could be heard at the pond. I looked up at Carson and smiled. His phone started ringing cutting off our eye contact. He took his phone from his pocket glancing down at the screen. "It's my mom," He said before answering it. "Hey mom...Yeah I'm out in the west field with Bella...Okay...Yeah we'll find something...Kay bye Love ya" He hung up and looked at me. "I guess the date continues." I give him another one of my signature questioning looks furrowing my eyebrows. "My parents and your grandma are going out for dinner. They are leaving us on our own." I nod my head in understanding. "They want us back at the house in the next ten minutes so we better go."
I sigh sitting up lifting my head off his chest immediatley missing his body heat losing the butterflies from my stomach. He followed my lead sitting up. I gathered the blanket in my arms. He jumped over the side of the truck I shook my head and walked to the tailgate. By the time I was there he was waiting I took the hand he held out to me and jumped down stumbling into his chest. He automatically put his arm around my waist catching me. I blushed again. I walked to the passenger side. He followed me opening the door as I climbed in. He walked around to the drivers side getting in and starting the truck. We started across the field heading back towards the house.
Ten minutes later we were parked in front of Nana's house. We both jumped out of the truck and walked into the house. We followed the sounds of voices into the kitchen where a middle aged couple sat conversing with Nana.
Carson cleared his throat and they turned towards us. "There you two are!" The lady I'm assuming was Carson's mom said. She was beautiful with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes just like Carson's.
"'Bout time you guys got back." Nana smiled sending a wink towards me.
"Ladies, why don't you leave the two alone," the man I assumed to be Carson's dad spoke for the first time. "We have to get going anyways so give the kids the money and get in the car! By the way it's a pleasure to meet you Bella all I ever hear from Carson is Bella's cute, Bella's funny, Bella's...."
Carson cleared his the ought sending his dad a glare, "Dad I think that's enough! I thought you were in a rush to leave anyways!"
Carson's dad chuckled. "Well ladies it looks like we are being kicked out so I guess we should go." All three of them started out of the kitchen, "and Carson the money's on the counter."
"Have fun kids!" Nana called as she walked out the front door.
I had a hunch that this night was going to be amazing and I hadn't thought of my mom once.
