Jessica's POV
"Alright guys! We trained long and hard for this and I know we can win this. I believe in you guys, so make me proud." I said as I looked to my teammates.
Today was out home game against our rivals and we were here to win. I truly believe in these guys because I have pushed them hard these passed couple of days. They probably have wanted to cuss me out, but oh well.
"Alright! Lets try our hardest and kick some ass!" I yelled at them.
I was replied back with screams of 'yea' and 'whoo!' I smiled at my team. I knew we could win this game. I wouldn't let my team down tonight.
"Now! On three! ONE, TWO THREE."
"WESTFIELD!" We all yelled together.
We all jogged over to the field and took our position. As captain, I walked over to the ref and the other team captain who looked at me weirdly. I shrugged my shoulders. He told us some rules and asked us to shake hands. The other Capitan looked at my hand as if it was a disease. I dropped my hand and headed back to my position. The ref blew the whistle and I knew that it was game time.
I could feel my blood pumping. I've never been more excited for a soccer game. It may have to do with me being on a guys' team, but I'm still going to kick some butt!
We received the ball and we pounced on it like no other. I know my team was ready to win.
I got the ball and dribbled it down the field, weaving in and out of defenders. My team was right behind me, supporting me if needed. I quickly passed the ball to Jared, seeing he was the only one open and right in front of the goal. Him, being the show off, had to do a bicycle kick. I chuckled before attacking him into a hug since he scored.
"That's what I'm talking about!" I yelled, patting his back.
"Thanks " He smiled at me.
"Whooo go Jessica!" I heard Brandon yell out.
I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help but smile. That's my Brandon. On his lap was Isabella who was shrieking with excitement. I chuckled. She probably has no idea what's going on. It's the thought that counts.
My team and I huddled together.
"Ok come on guys! That's only one goal. That's nothing if we slack off. I better see you guys continue to give me a hundred and ten percent.! And if you don't, I'll have you benched in a heartbeat!" I told them.
They all nodded.
"I didn't hear you !"
"Yes Ma'am!"
I bowed, "Thank you."
They all chuckled, but got set up in their positions.
I got an idea and smirked.
Once the other team got the ball, I yelled "Charge!"
That freaked them out bad. I couldn't help but let out a little laugh as they looked at us in fear. Nonetheless, my team charged at them and received the ball. Joel currently had the ball, since he was a forward and since I playe midfielder he passed the ball to me once I was open. But what he didnt see was the defender coming straight at us and once he kicked the ball to me, it was taken away.
I sighed in frustration. I turned around and started sprinting towards the guy who had the ball. And danm, let me tell you. He was fast as hell! I don't even know if it was humanly possible to run that fast! But I didn't give up and i kept running, especially since no one on my team was as fast as me. I kept running and running until I caught up to him and slid so my foot hit the ball out of his reach.
I was successful and I quickly got back up before the oher guy could. I'm surprised I didn't get called out on that. I chuckled silently. I ran to the ball and started to run to the other side of the field all by myself. My team was a bunch of slow pokes. Guess who's running sprints next practice? I rolled my eyes.
Going left to right, I tried to miss all the defenders on the other team and I thought I was successful until a foot was placed out and I ended up tripping on it. Dammit. The guy and I rolled over each other onto the ground. Damn, did that hurt.
I heard a whistle blew.
Thank god!
He walked over to me and the guy who had tripped me and I could see him pulling out a yellow card. I muffled a snicker.
But what I didn't see coming was that the yellow card was directed towards me.
Wait what?!
"Are you serious ref?!" I exclamied at him.
"It was a clean steal until you tripped him m'am" Was his dam reply,
"So you're saying I tripped him? Thats bull! If anything, he tripped my on purpose!"
"I know what I saw. Now get back."
"You're kidding right? You know that I didn't do that!" I yelled at him.
Keep digging deeper Jessica.
"Alright. I see where you're coming from." He replied as he went to look for his cards.
"Thank you!"
He pulled out a red card and pointed it towards me.
"Oh hell no!" I exclaimed.
"Get off the field number nine."
I grumbled all the way to the bench. Dammit!
"I'm sorry coach." I told him sincerely as I reached the bench.
"Don't worry about it. I know that the other team tripped you on purpose. And i know the whole stadium knows that as well."
I shook my head, "But now you're one player short on the field. this has never happened to me and I apologize."
He shrugged his shoulders, "If I was in your position, I would have done the exact same thing, Don't beat yourself up"
I huffed, but didn't reply.
He gave me a quick shoulder shake before heading over to the other coaches.
Dammit! Why did I have to get red carded? Damn ref. I glared at him throughout the rest of the game. And i know he saw me doing it as well.
