Chapter 73

This is it. I can see a lot of people walk inside the palace and quickly greet me with their overly sweet smiles. I greeted them one by one before Ferid asked me to go to him.

"Stand next to Lymsleia, okay? Don't leave her for too long nor talk to a woman for too long."

"Is the last part really important? I understand the first one but I don't understand the last one."

"It is all about putting on a face, you know? If you are seen talking with one of the women for too long, they will start gossiping about you being unfaithful and all that. Gossip is something very powerful in this kind of society."

I can only groan and see him smirking at me.

"Anyway, just make sure to stay close to Lymsleia and we are good."

After half an hour, the party starts, and by party, I mean another generic ass-licking by the noble who comes to me. It looks like they want to try their luck to get a position in the Queen's Knight through me.

As a new Queen's Knight Commander, I can take two to four new Queen's Knights under my wing to train. They will get a prestige never seen before, and their life will be set. After they serve for ten years, they can retire and get a piece of land to lord over.

The meet and greet lasted for a fucking three hours before the servant finally served us some food. I take pork chop, mashed potato, meat, and a couple of vegetable skewers. I take a bite of the food, and I must say it would be better if it were served warm or hot.

Sadly, there are too many nobles to greet, and the food is getting cold. Oh well. It is still delicious, just a bit cold.

"What do you think?"

I look at Lymsleia, who puts a spoonful of mashed potato inside her mouth.

"What do you mean?"

"What do you think of the party?"

"This is a party?"

I can see a small blush on her face when I call her dear.

"This is a meet and greet meeting between nobles and the royal family."

I can hear her chuckling at my words.

"What?"

"Father also said the same thing. He always complains that this is not a party but rather a gossip meeting between nobles."

"And he is correct. Ferid is a great guy, you should listen to him."

"Ara~ Are you teaching my niece something bad, Jacob?"

I look to the side and see Freyjadour and Sialeeds walk toward me. I can see them bringing a plate of food with them. The servant quickly ran toward us with a table and chair for Sialeeds and Frejadour.

After the table and chair are done, they sit on it.

"Huh? You can do that?"

Sialeeds smirk at me and says.

"Of course! I'm the Queen's sister after all."

I can see Freyjadour sigh and decide to ask him instead.

"Please tell me she did not force the servant to do this."

"I'm sorry, Jacob."

"She forced them, didn't she?"
