"You'll get over her I promise."

"Arabella it's not that easy."

"I know, but how do you know? This isn't your first relationship Dustin. You still don't get heartbreak."

"First of all, no, Isabelle? Ring a bell? Also, it doesn't matter, it hurts like hell and I hate it."

"That's how it is bro, good or bad, love hurts."

"I don't believe in love."

"And I don't believe in you being like this. Come on, we'll get you a Baja."
That shot me straight up, just because Katie didn't want to be with me anymore, didn't mean I couldn't enjoy life as it was.
We walked into the den, Arabella had trying so hard to cheer me up, as well as Jake. Jake had been bad lately, always sad. I was sick of it, but he's been my friend since kindergarten, that's 11 years. I can't just push him away. Even if he's already locked me out.
Arabella's mom was sitting on the couch directly across from the mini fridge, she looked at me and immediately knew something was up. Let me explain, Arabella and I, were twins, just not biological. Her family was my family, we've been friends since second grade. Their house was home. Arabella's mother looked at me.

"Dustin what's wrong? You're quiet." I was never quiet.

"Nothing, I'm fine. Thanks for caring though."

"If you say so." She responded, and went back to her book. Arabella handed me a can of Baja, looked over towards Jake, who was flopped on the couch.

"Jake get off your ass we're gonna do something to get both of you happy."

"Are we gonna steal something?" I interjected.

"NO DON'T YOU GUYS DO THAT IT'S BAD" Arabella's mom screeched.
Jake stood up and shot me a look. It's all hard for me to comprehend, how people feel. I'm terrible at reading emotions, but that was a look of pure hatred.

"That's my queue." I said with the sarcastic tone that was my voice

"What?" Arabella sounded confused, which wasn't new.

"I'm outta here, I'll text you later though okay?"

"Why?"

"You and Jake want & need alone time, I get it."

"I never said that."

"Doesn't matter, I'm picking up McDonalds and going home."
I barged out of the door and went straight to my car, opened the door, inserted and turned the key.
I got a call from the last person I wanted to talk to.

Katie.

Surprisingly enough, I also had a text from Elliot. So I replied to him, and completely ignored Katie. He asked me to meet him in 15 minutes. I responded with 'I'm getting McDonalds just meet me there.' He agreed.
Ah Elliot, where do I begin? I hated him when we were kids. He was always my nemesis, I was constantly competing with him. But recently, he's been there for me, so I have to like the kid.
So I stepped out of my car into the McDonalds parking lot, zipping up my navy sweatshirt to protect myself from the cold spring night. Elliot pulled up moments later. We entered McDonalds together, ordered, waited and then sat in silence.

"So what would you do if I told you"
I cut him off.

"If you got laid I'm leaving."

"Nah man it's not like that, I just started dating Isabelle."

"Wait like my Isabelle?"

"Your ex. Mhm."

"Good, treat her right, she deserves it. If you don't, we'll have some problems."

"Got it."

"What about Amber? Or Crimson?"

"What about them."

"Dude you've been crushing on them forever."

"And?"

"You sound like a total asshole right now."

"You always do."

"This isn't about me. How'd you get Isabelle?"

"She and I have been flirting for a while now."

"Well yeah"

"I guess I just grew a pair and it worked out." I smirked and sipped my smoothie.

"Good for you bro."

"And how are things with Katie?"
I froze. How did I respond to that? I didn't wanna talk about Katie. Not after everything that happened.

"Fine."

"That's good, well I'm gonna go, my dad."
I knew what he meant. That was that. I grabbed my food and went to my car, thinking of all the things that could have happened if Elliot and I weren't close.
Let me inform you. Crimson and I have been friends since diapers. She's one of the most popular girls at our school. Lately though, she and I have been growing apart. Amber, Olivia, Megan, Alice, and Danielle were Crimson's friends, the other popular girls. I've been friends with all of them since kindergarten. It's surprising that we can all still stand each other. Savannah and Sophie, as long as we're mentioning my friends, are the duo you cannot separate.
I parked my car in my driveway, because my parents take up the garage. I really just wanted to go and stay downtown. We lived outside of New York City, yeah, NYC. But it was a small town outside of one of the biggest cities. Broadway Hills. Weird name for a town outside of New York City right? I walked through the door, went to the kitchen, grabbed a Mikes Hard Lemonade from the alcohol cabinet that I wasn't supposed to touch, oops, then I bounced down stairs to my basement room. The Cave as my parents called it. I ripped off my sweatshirt, jeans, shirt, shoes, socks, then collapsed on my bed. I looked at my clock, it was only 11. So I just scrolled through my messages.
Then I made the biggest mistake I think I've ever made.
I replied to 'we need to talk'.
I called the person I didn't want to talk to if my life depended on it.
Not because they were the worst person, because it was so awkward.
"Hello?"

"Katie?"

Authors note.
Sorry for this chapter, it's bound to be boring, all the introductions. Sadly they aren't even over yet. But hey. You gotta do what you gotta do.
