DAKOTA
I couldn't believe my ears when Velocia mentioned my name. Me, a part of the elite team? My powers weren't something I liked to flaunt. But as I looked around at the determined faces of my friends, I knew I had to step up.
Zoe's eyes were sharp, her mind already calculating the mission details. "We need an elite team," she emphasized, her voice steady. "If your powers are too loud, then you can't go, but we also need some type of energy."
Velocia, always direct, spoke up next. "On this mission, we'll need Zoe, Blake, Eleanor, Dakota, and Frank."
My name hung in the air, and I felt a mix of surprise and determination. I wasn't used to taking a forefront position in these kinds of situations. But I had to remind myself that this was bigger than any of us.
Katie, ever the lightning enthusiast, protested, "Why can't I go?"
Zoe shook her head, her expression firm. "Your powers, Katie. They're too much for just a kidnapping mission. We need precision and subtlety."
Katie sighed dramatically, her usual sense of humor not failing her even in serious situations. "Fine, fine. I'll stay behind. But you guys better bring me a souvenir!"
As we prepared to head to Washington D.C., a mixture of determination and nerves buzzed through the air. This mission could change everything for us, and the weight of that responsibility settled on my shoulders. The anticipation of what was to come tightened my chest, but I squared my shoulders and took a deep breath. We were a team, and we were going to do whatever it took to protect our home.
The plane ride to D.C. was tense, the silence broken only by the occasional whispered strategy discussion. I stole glances at my friends, noticing the determination etched on their faces. Each of us had a role to play, and together, we were a force to be reckoned with.
As we landed and made our way to the city, I couldn't shake off the feeling of impending danger. This was the heart of the nation, the stronghold of power, and we were about to challenge it head-on. The stakes were high, and failure was not an option.
We gathered in a secluded spot, hidden from prying eyes. Zoe took charge, her voice low but commanding. "Remember, we're not just doing this for ourselves. We're doing this for every Being out there. We won't let them be treated as threats anymore. We're taking a stand."
I nodded, my resolve hardening. We were Beings, and we had a right to live without fear, without persecution. This mission was our chance to make a statement, to show the world that we weren't to be underestimated.
With a final glance exchanged between us, we set out, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Our steps were steady, our minds focused. The mission had begun, and we were on a path to change the course of history.
And so, as we ventured deeper into the heart of the city, I steeled myself for the battle ahead. The fate of our kind rested on our shoulders, and we were determined to make a difference. Whatever obstacles came our way, we would face them together, united in our purpose. The mission was underway, and nothing would stand in our way.
