Kabanata 2
"NO. PINK is for the weak. Choose another color," Rafaela told her niece Yel.
She's teaching the little girl how to pick clothes properly as if it's a life and death situation. She will not let her niece go through the hardest phase in life--ang kabaduyan.
Yel pouted at her. Halatang naaasar na rin. "Ipagod nya pini! Puno nyow nyow. Wanchepink nga eeta uffah eh!" reklamo nito bago siya inirapan.
Rafaela lifted a brow. "Don't roll your eyes on me that way, girl." "Do it properly. Come on. Show me you're a goddamn Santi Vlanco woman!"
"What the hell are you doing with my daughter?" problemadong tanong ng bagong dating na si Rimael bago nito binuhat ang anak.
Rafaela sighed before she stood up and crossed her arms. "She's giving me a headache. She wanted pink and purple and blue in one dress, and she doesn't know how to roll her eyes the right way! It's so frustrating! What are you teaching her and she ended up a boring kid, huh? That child will never survive in the real world!"
"Good heavens, Rafa." Her brother sighed. "Did you go home to torture my daughter? She's barely three for Pete's sake!"
"Well, I don't give a damn about Pete!" balik niya sa kapatid.
Rimael groaned. "I left you with her for not more than fifteen minutes to buy something and you're already judging my kid whether she'll survive in the real world or not."
Tinaasan niya ng kilay si Rimael. "Well, she really wouldn't if you'll let her think Disney princesses are better than badass female villains."
Nayayamot siyang sinimangutan ng kapatid. "She's just a child. Of course, Disney princesses are better."
Umismid si Rafaela. "What's so cool about mopping floors and being saved by a prince? You're gonna make her think all of her miseries will end when a man rescues her."
He sighed. "I really won't win in an argument with you, will I?"
"Nope. Now put her down so we can continue our lesson."
Napahilamos na ito ng palad sa mukha. "Seriously, did you really come home to San Marcelino to teach my daughter things she barely understands?"
No, she didn't. She went home because she's getting tired of Geisler's face and how he's been treating her lately. Ever since he met up with that pretty congresswoman during his father's birthday party, Geisler had already made her feel that she's less beautiful in his eyes.
No, not because she wanted his attention. She just wants Geisler to brag about her so others will think that her life is perfect. That she's a happy wife with a supportive husband. People's praises feed her ego, and no matter how wrong it is, Rafaela can't see the real problem.
Rafaela rolled her eyes on Rimael so he wouldn't be able to read her mind. "No. I just wanna unwind at katatapos lang ng fashion week, but I will not just stand on the side and be a bad aunt. Yel is a Santi Vlanco. She isn't born to be a mediocre."
"Liking colorful dresses and Disney princesses don't make someone a mediocre, Rafa." He sighed. "Let's just go. I still have to prep for dinner."
Rafaela waved her hand. "You guys go ahead. I still wanna shop." She still has three cards to max out.
Mr. President was generous enough to give her five extension cards without his cousin knowing. He didn't let her use any of his cards nor her extension cards.
Of course, she didn't let him win.
Rimael held her on her nape and pecked a gentle kiss on her temple. "I'll see you at home," bilin nito.
Rafaela jerked her head before she kissed Yel on her cheek. "We're not done with our trainings, Mariel. I'll see you tomorrow."
Yel waved at her, totally clueless of what she was talking about.
How could her brother endure everything for a woman? Yes, she knows how much Rimael loves Demi but sometimes she still wonders if how many men can go through what Rimael has been going through for the sake of getting a girl.
Minsan napapaisip siya. Naiinggit. She knows she's prettier than Demi and Kathlyn, pero bakit siya, hindi siya pinaghihirapang mapaibig? Is something wrong with her?
"I haven't maxed out all of your cards yet. You can calm down, Mr. President," bungad niya kay Danrick.
Bumuntonghininga ito. "I didn't call because of my credit cards. I just wanna know why you're still not getting ready for tonight's event. You always get ready six hours before an important gathering. Where are you?"
Nagsimula siyang maglakad patungo sa ibang shops. She's planning to buy something for the maids since she doesn't like the brands she's seeing around the mall.
"I'm in San Marcelino. I'm not gonna attend Geisler's celebration party."
"What? You're his wife. People expect you to be there, Ela."
Her teeth gritted. "Will you stop calling me that way? It reminds me of that Disney princess who's too lousy enough to leave a damn limited edition shoe!" She inhaled a sharp breath. "Plus she's friends with rats. I hate rats."
Narinig niya ang pagbuntonghininga ni Danrick. "That's it. I'm picking you up myself."
Napakuyom siya ng kamao. "Don't waste your time, Danrick. Hindi rin enough ang three hours para mag-ready."
"I'll get the fastest styling team. Now stay where you are and I'll pick you up myself."
She groaned in frustration. "Bakit ka ba nangungulit? Why the hell do you want me to attend the party so fucking badly?"
"Because Geisler wanna annul your marriage, and he will use your absence in the event as an excuse to make false stories about you sleeping with another man."
"Oh, no no no. Nobody is allowed to dump me and stain my goddamn reputation." A dangerous smirk made its way to Rafaela's lips. "Tingnan ko lang kung hindi umiyak 'yang lintik mong pinsan oras na ako na ang tumarantado sa kanya . . ."
