The following day is just as bad, but I'm now using a new format that –fuck me– is indeed way easier to use to enter the data. I would rather die and bury myself than confessing this to Porsche, though.
And talking about him, he has made sure his face is not seen all day, which works best for me but receiving emails from someone I don't see makes me feel like I'm working with a robot, and the thought gives me the ick.
After lunch, I head myself to the restroom to wash my face and teeth, and I see the back of his neck when I enter. He's easy to identify, that long brown neck with that specific hair fade can only be his, plus his broad shoulders and petite waist can only confirm more of his identity; he's facing the other way, close to the last stall. I try to walk away just to not see him again but then I think I hear my name. I cover myself behind the wall and decide to be nosy for once.
"He's just different from you, Porsche." It sounds like Pete. "You just need to accommodate to him, and vice versa."
I hear Porsche sigh and then say in a low voice: "You don't get it, Pete. It's just not that we are different, he is with no doubt the person with the most awful personality I've ever met."
"Come on, that can't be truth. I remember you were friends with that girl in Uni who nobody worked on projects with cause she would hate everyone's part of the homework." Pete remembers.
"You know she just had a specific way of wanting things done." Porsche replies. "Plus, they were mainly intimidated by her appearance, I bet if she had been more slim" he adds making emphasis in the word and I can almost hear him frowning "they would have thought she was just feisty instead of a monster. Once you weren't stupid like that, she would actually take your inputs into account."
They both take deep breaths before Porsche continues.
"But Kinn, he's just the rudest, most stubborn person I know; he's not human enough to admit when he's wrong. He should just go work at her mom's company so he can do things his way and his way only, and I'm sure no one would bat an eye to his way of working." He says, annoyed. "I bet he just likes bringing the mood down, he thrives in bad energy. I swear if it weren't for the..."
His voice gets lower as I leave the bathroom in silence and head to my office.
I just hate him, I decide. I hate everything Porsche is and what he represents. I've never hated anyone, I believe. I never cared that much for someone I didn't like, but it's okay, cause now I know the feeling is mutual.
Three weeks go by. Finally Friday arrives, the day I get to hang out with Khun and some of his friends, we're going to the bar and I have the intention of getting hammered. I even pre-booked an Uber so I know I can drink as much as I want and I won't be endangering anyone's life by getting back home. I'm responsible like that.
Ever since I overheard to Porsche's conversation with Pete, I have made it a point to not direct a word to him. I see how he's been confused at my attitude but I don't care. I don't believe his opinion of me can get any lower than what it already is.
But then, he shows up right as I was getting my morning coffee.
I try to go around him but he stops me by the arm and shouts: "Anakinn, what the fuck is your problem?!" He looks pissed.
"What do you mean?" I ask, knowing exactly what he means.
"You've been ignoring me for weeks now. And I don't know why." He answers and looks like he's getting more and more pissed. He's never let me see him actually angry so I think about what to say next.
"I don't get why that's important." I say "As long as we're both doing our parts of the job, our communication shouldn't cause an inconvenience to you."
