Omniscient
Three months... Today officially made it three months that Cherie hadn't seen Jeremiah. To some people it wasn't that long, or it wasn't that big of deal, but it was killing her. Her and Jeremiah's communication had gotten horrible, they were barely communicating with each other. Cherie had come to the conclusion that they should just break up. She loved Jeremiah, but she just couldn't do the distance. Her and Jeremiah were going to have a talk when he got off of work. She'd already told him that they needed to and that it was serious. He'd already had an idea of what it was about. Like Cherie, Jeremiah had felt the strain in their relationship. He was hoping that maybe they could fix it though.
All throughout the day Cherie was anxious. She barely paid attention in class because she was too busy thinking of what she was going to say on her and Jeremiah's phone call. She'd never broken up with anyone, so she didn't know how to even start the conversation off. She wanted to get straight to the point, but not come off as mean. She didn't want to hurt Jeremiah's feelings at all. She loved him too much do such a thing.
When she got out of class, she dropped her backpack off at home, then went to take a walk. Walking was something she'd started doing over the summer. She'd found a trail that she liked and she walked it almost every day. Walking the trail was peaceful to her, it cleared her mind. She didn't have to do any thinking, all she had to do was walk.
After her walk she headed back home and took a shower. With the heat and the duration of her walk, she'd sweated a lot. After her shower, Jeremiah surprised her with a phone call. Today would be the day he called early.
"Hello." Cherie answered the phone.
"Hey, I got off early so I decided to go ahead and call you."
"Oh okay. How was your day?" Cherie questioned.
"It was good, how was yours?"
"It was good." The two sat in silence for a couple of seconds.
"So, you said we needed to talk?" Jeremiah broke the silence.
"Yeah." Cherie paused, trying to think of how she wanted to start this conversation off. "Well first, I want you to know that I love you." Jeremiah chuckled nervously.
"I love you too."
"So um, I wanted to talk to you because I think we should break up." Cherie dropped the fat man sized bomb.
"What?" Jeremiah frowned. "Why?"
"We barely talk to each other and we haven't seen each other in three whole months. I'm not happy." Cherie sighed before continuing. "I miss you so much that sometimes I put on your clothes just so I can smell your scent. I rather miss you and eventually get over you than constantly be sad in this relationship." Jeremiah clenched his jaw, remaining silent.
"Say something."
"There's nothing to say. Have a nice night Cherie." Jeremiah hung up the phone before she could say anything else. Tears began to cloud her eyes, soon they began falling. Cherie pulled her legs up to her chest, letting it all out.
...
Cherie woke up the next morning on the couch. She lifted her head up, moving her neck around. She'd slept in an uncomfortable position and it caused her neck to hurt. She mad her way into the bathroom so she could wash her face. It was dry from all the crying she done last night. After her and Jeremiah's phone call she'd done nothing but cry for the rest of the day and night.
She began washing her face then she brushed her teeth and hopped in the shower. Although she wasn't in the mood, she had to attend class. Her life didn't stop just because she was sad over a breakup. When she was finished getting ready she made her way to class. On her walk there she turned on some Tems. Her music calmed her and Lord did she need calmness right now.
