Context: Nightmare comes back as a demon
Dark Steve's plan for the day was to study a demon portal and hopefully find a way to block it. However it all went haywire when the Nightmare King himself came through said portal - and he was not in a good mood.
Luckily, the portal was in a lush cave, which meant plenty of hiding spots. Dark's only problem was that he had picked a small pond covered in drip leaves - the perfect choice at first sight, but he was quick to discover just how cold water can be in a cave. Shivering, he started looking for a way out.
He figured he could probably just run towards the exit while keeping close to the stone walls, where the shadows would keep him hidden. But if the Nightmare King were to spot him, he'd be left with no cover, pretty much facing inevitable death. His other option was to climb up a glow berry vine to a tunnel several blocks above the ground and hope it would lead him to a different way out.
"Found you." a deep voice boomed next to him.
On the verge of a panic attack, Dark grabbed the thing closest to him - some poor unaware axolotl - and threw it right into Nightmare's face. Not waiting to see his reaction, he made a run for the glowing vine. He got up just in time to take cover from a fireball. Looking around, he saw that the tunnel was actually the entrance to a different cave, one covered in dripstone. Exactly what he needed. He kicked one of the pointy stones, and picked up the largest piece. Nightmare, who had also made it into the cave, laughed at his sorry excuse of a weapon. His smirk quickly disappeared when Dark charged at him and he felt the stone pierce through him.
Knowing he only had a few seconds before the demon's immortality kicked in, Dark ran back through the tunnel and was just outside the cave when he saw his creator coming, this time with an expression of rage on his face. He figured he couldn't teleport away without slowing Nightmare down first, and so he did, by shooting a fireball at the ceiling. Several tons of stone and granite came down, completely blocking the exit.
Finally, he could breathe. He sat down, closing his eyes and taking in the situation. Unfortunately, his relief was short-lived, as Dark remembered he had to break the news to his friends... especially to Sabre, who he already knew was gonna freak out. Oh well.
