Bloom AU

"Sabre, it's five in the morning, how are you choosing to play with a bunch of bees instead of sleeping in...?" a very tired Rainbow Steve asked as he walked outside.

"YOU are here to play with Gerald. Drop the hypocrisy would you?" Sabre sassed back.

"Okay, fair enough. See you around, I guess."

Sabre waved in response then shifted his gaze from his friend and back to the swarm of little creatures hovering around him. He had brought them some honey, but they seemed much more interested in his flowers, so the human found himself happily staying more still than ever and watching them zoom by. (they be making zoomies-)

He had missed feeling the dozens of little footsteps all over his skin, checking out what new flowers have bloomed since last time. Unfortunately, Gerald wasn't too fond of the black and yellow creatures, so they had to take some time and befriend them. The pig had eventually accepted the newcomers, although not without clearly expressing his opinion of them, so for the most part, Rainbow kept him busy while Sabre spent time with the bees.

The human sighed and gently shooed the bees away, trying to make sure none stayed on his back. Rainbow had a point. It was still really early in the morning, and he hadn't had a good night's sleep in a while, so he figured a quick nap couldn't hurt. He stretched, laying back and making himself comfortable on the grass, but heard his friend just as he was about to doze off.

"I can see you, Sabre! Don't you dare sleep on the ground!"

With an annoyed - and somewhat affectionate grumble, although he would never admit it - Sabre got up and walked over to his hammock. The swarm of bees followed him and got right back to work, prompting a sleepy smile out of him as he drifted off.
