Eight Months Later

Malaika's Pov

I stood outside as I waited for my sister, Miracle to pick me up. After eight months of being in rehab, I am finally going home. Recovery from the addiction was the hardest thing for me to do especially with no communication from my family, whatsoever... It was that bad. I am finally better and I am hoping I can get in touch with Jade... I heard she moved back to California due to a bad engagement breakup.

I looked up to see my sister, Miracle pulling up in her Grey 2025 Range Rover Velar. I smiled widely as she pulled up in front of me. She got out of the car and my mouth dropped when I saw her with a pregnant belly.

"Miracle!" I gasped as I speed-walked over to her and attacked carefully with a hug.

She hugged me back tightly. "Surprise!" She laughed.

I pulled away and admired her. "You look beautiful! Congratulations, seriously!" I started to tear up.

"Nope nope! Do not cry." She carefully wiped my first tears and she looked at me. "You look amazing, sister."

I sniffed and crept a smile. "Thank you, I appreciate you for picking me up." I grabbed my luggage and she opened the trunk.

I put my things in the trunk and we all got in, getting on this road. A 3-hour drive at that.

"So... How was rehab?" She asked softly as she turned down the stereo.

I sighed, looking out the window. "It was good and bad at the same time. I won't lie.. I relapsed a few times which made the recovery and stay longer. It's crazy how some of the people in that rehabilitation center get their visitors to sneak drugs in that place.."

She shook her head and took a deep breath. "I'm just glad you're okay. You have Jade to thank. She's the one that paid the fees.. even for the extra stay."

I turned my head and looked at her. "Are you serious?" I felt my eyes watering. This rehabilitation center I went to wasn't one of the cheapest or regular centers to go to...

She nodded. "Mhm, she would not let Mom or Dad pay for it. She feels like you spiraling out of control was her fault."

I shook my head. "But it wasn't. I messed up and I had to suffer from that but I came back from that. Is it true that she's moved back to California for good?"

She nodded. "The engagement breakup rumor is true as well. She's been bombarding herself with work. She barely answers our phone calls." She shook her head.

"I will have to see her." I sighed. "So I can thank her. I am mad at myself for fucking things up between us. I don't know what I was thinking." I looked down at my fingers and started fidgeting with them.

"She moved back into the apartments, the one y'all shared." She said.

"Really? At least I have a place to go to.." I sighed.

"Yeah, she's looking out for you at least." She responded.

I shook my head, I couldn't fathom. "Enough about me, when is the baby due?" I looked at her pregnant belly.

"In 3 Months. I am excited. Angie has already started building the crib. She's really loving this journey that we're on."

That made me smile. I know they have been wanting to do this for a while now. "I am really happy for you guys. Y'all are married too."

"Yes, we eloped at that then Mom and Dad got mad so we're doing an actual wedding after I have the baby and I would love for you to be my Maid of Honor." She smiled.
