A plate of bacon and egg with orange juice filled the tray for Mark's breakfast.

The maid knocked twice on the door before letting herself in and placing the food on Mark's nightstand. Mark's mother followed behind the maid and dismissed her. When the door closes signaling that the maid had left, she walked towards Mark who was sitting on chair beside the window of his room, overlooking a tree and the houses around their area.

Gently, she rested her palm on his shoulder but as usual, Mark stayed motionless. "Mark. You have to eat, son."

There was a slight nod of his head then there was nothing. Mark didn't even move to get his breakfast and remained watching out of the window. With a slight squeeze on his shoulder, she left his room. When she was out, she noticed a broad figure standing just a few meters away from her. She pressed her lips together and wrinkled her perfectly trimmed eyebrow.

She watches as her husband fidget under her intense gaze. She was putting so much effort over herself to avoid from lashing out to him. "What do you want?"

"I -" He hesitated. "I just came to check if Mark's doing okay."

"Okay?" She snorted which made him cower in defeat. "Tell me, what part of him looking so lifeless is okay?! Was this what you want, huh? Were you really doing everything for his sake?"

"Honey, please. Listen-"

"You didn't even ask him what he wants!" She continued, not letting her husband speak. The tears were flowing like a dam has been broken. It was endless and exhausting at the same time. "If you love our son, you would have listened to him. If you love our son, you would have tried to compromise with him. If you love our son, you wouldn't want him to get hurt."

Mark's father let out a sigh of frustration, combing his hair relentlessly. "I love Mark. I love him with all my life. And I have known his feelings for Jackson for five years and it was torture seeing him get hurt. As his father, I had to do something."

"So you ask him to forget about Jackson and threatened him in sending him away." She deadpans. "Was that your most brilliant plan?"

"Yes!" He yelled out in exasperation.

She narrowed her eyes and barred her teeth. "Well, it wasn't for Mark and for everyone else! Look at him! Look at what you've done! Mark wouldn't even look at me! Have you ever considered the consequences of your actions before you even think of executing it?! You're tearing this family apart because of your foolishness!"

He tried to say something but she decided it was the time to walk away. He didn't know if it was their conversation or his life she's walking away from. He didn't dare to grab her back because he knew he was in the wrong here. But one thing's for sure, he's on the verge of losing his family.

Even with each spoonful of rice that fills his mouth, Jinyoung still felt utterly empty.

He had not seen Mark entered the parameters of school since that day. Well, he wasn't expecting for his friend to turn up immediately but a week had been too much considering Mark had also been absent five days prior. For so many times, he had this urge to visit him. But he thought, maybe Mark wanted space for a little while and Jinyoung had been patient enough to give him just that, hoping that time would heal Mark's wounds.

It was lonely eating lunch in the cafeteria alone, though. He had been used to having someone accompany him to eat. And it surprised him when somebody suddenly sat on the seat next to him, an air of warmth hugging the side of his body. He craned his neck to look at the unexpected guest and his eyes widened, couldn't believe that Jaebum was right next to him, eating lunch.
