Nathan was in his room reading the extra chapter from the novel “Crystal Flame” one focused on the reader's favorite character, the villain Elias Bemir, a pretty boy with a sad past, the morally gray character which has more fans than the main character themselves.
With enchanting dark blond hair and gray eyes, the perfect appearance to a villain of a fantasy novel, with ice magic Elias was a great opponent to the Hero of the story, Atlas Cothran the black haired boy with dark crimson eyes and fire magic.
the same old cliché story.
The history takes place on the world of Adomania, a place where magic exists in a medieval themed world, Atlas Cothran is a village boy who lives in a secluded area far, far away from the capital of his kingdom, he dreamed of traveling the world like a adventurer, fighting monsters along the away, meeting people and seeing new places.
He trained a lot and got stronger, so off to his adventure he went, he made friends, gained companions, got stronger, meet his love interest, Louise Geolian the disguised princess of the Kingdom, she then tells him about the strange things that have been happening in the kingdom, so his party takes the job of finding what's been happening.
A lot of character development later, they find that the one who's behind the imminent demise of the kingdom is Elias Bemir, the Duke’s Bemir youngest son, who was thrown out of the dukedom years ago, and is going after revenge not only after his father but the rest of the kingdom too.
A lot of people liked Elias because he was an excellent written character, his way of doing things, how he planned alongside fate itself so everything would go exactly the way he wanted, Elias also was a genius when it came to magic, he was the perfect last boss of the novel. He showed not only this side of him, the little things that demonstrated that he too was human, hints of the reason why he wanted revenge so badly came in the most subtle ways. Showing his side of things was painful, because the more you understood him the more hurt you will feel when he dies, Elias was destined to die in the hands of the hero.
And there was nothing the readers could do…
So the end of the novel came, and with it the last battle between the hero and the villain, it was a brutal fight, both sides battling fiercely to stay alive. Atlas won although he lost an arm, but managed to kill Elias, he pierced his sword through the boy's heart.
In the end he married Louise, therefore becoming king, everybody was happy…
Or so they wanted to believe this.
Atlas meet Duke Bemir after sometime as the new king, and the only thing he could think after they spoke was:
“Did I do the right thing killing Elias?”
This is how the novel ended, with Atlas questioning himself.
nothing more nothing less
The novel got a solid fan base over the years, and devoted people to this piece of media.
After some years of the conclusion of the novel, the author posted an extra called:
“The crownless king”
It showed the kind of past Elias had in the Dukedom, with the most hurtful details of everything the boy went through, it was pure angst and it hurted more because you knew what the future of the little boy was.
Death
It showed that even his death was planned by him, that if he was going to die either way, he was going to make a ruckus before parting.
…
Nathan was finishing reading the extra, he couldn't stop crying, how could he?
Him and his sister loved the novel, well more precisely they loved Elias, and with this extra they were in total despair.
At first they were happy the author had listened to the begging of the fandom to make an extra about Elias, so they thought that somehow it was a happy extra?
Something about how Elias found happiness in the after life or something like that. All they got was a painful stab on their hearts.
It was clear to them that the author was evil, completely evil.
“Nathan, how could that son of a bitch do that with my child”- Aria said, barely holding up her tears, she was reading beside him on the floor of his room.
The older boy was in the worst state, tears would not stop flowing down his cheeks, he was incapable of speaking at the moment, but that wasn’t necessary Aria was speaking for both of them.
“I wish i could beat the shit of that pathetic excuse of a human being that they call the duke”- she had to make a pause mid sentence to hold a sob -” Righteous and dignified my ass, Elias was a kid, a mother fucking kid”- she was still grumbulling of how many ways she could kill the duke.
Both Nathan and Aria stayed a good long time talking about how they could beat the shit out of that thing. Unfortunately punching a fictional character was not possible.
After some time, both of them calmed down a little, they went to the kitchen to drink a cup of water and to eat something, after that they both went back to Nathan's room.
They talked a little more about the extra and went their separate ways after.
Nathan closed his eyes, feeling his body being embraced by the hands of Morpheus, welcoming him to the land of dreams, all he could think while in this limbo between unconsciousness and consciousness was about his favorite character and how he wished to help him somehow.
After some time he noticed that something was amiss, something was wrong.
he slowly opened his eyes, he was not home, where the hell was he?
An old mansion, looking like a museum, but poorly maintained white dust everywhere, he looked around and got more confused, then he noticed a mirror on the corner. Something said in the back of his mind to take a look, so he went to look at himself in the mirror.
There he was in the mirror, but something wasn't right, it was him but, but he was translucid… Like he wasn’t solid, like he wasn’t real. He was scared, who wouldn't be? But thinking it was a lucid dream he decided to continue to explore and try to make sense of whatever was happening, even though it felt too real to be a dream.
He walked for what felt like hours, corridors and more corridors, rooms and more rooms, until he saw a boy.
A lonely boy, in a poorly lit room, it was messy and dirty… The little boy was alone in the middle of the room, he wasn't staring at any specific point, it was like he wasn't there, like he was daydreaming.
The little boy didn't look so well, he was sickly pale, underweight but not dirty, he had a look in his eyes that no child should have, while Nathan was observing his conditions, the little boy finally saw him, and the boy spoke.
“Who are you?”- The voice was rough, barely used grabbin Nathan's attention, this way he finally looked truly at the boy, dark blond hair and gray eyes…
He couldn't believe it, Nathan was face to face with his favorite character.
Without thinking much the first thing he said to the boy was.
End of Epilogue.
