"Y/N, school," Y/N's father sighs, shaking Y/N, "You need to wake up."

Y/N grumbles, but wakes herself up, as her dad leaves her room. She dresses casually, knowing she will change later, when she is on the train. She opens her window and her owl flies in, nipping Y/N as a sign of love and walking into his cage. Rusty, her calico cat, jumps onto the bed and starts to purr, so Y/N rubs under his chin.

"Don't worry, you'll be coming too," She informs him, before putting her hand off of him to put on her socks.

Y/N then packs a few remaining objects, as well as a few books from her bookshelf. She goes into her bathroom, grabbing a few toiletry items before closing up her luggage bag. Y/N opens her window's curtains, letting the sun seep in. With a final look around her room, she grabs her owl's cage, and clicks her tongue, as Rusty follows, trotting behind her. Her father meets her in the hallway, grabbing her main luggage bag, as she grabs the two smaller ones. Her father grabs her teddy bear, an old toy from his childhood which he asked his parents for long ago, at the beginning of Y/N's mother's pregnancy. He passes it to her and she smiles.

"Thank you," Y/N says, looking genuinely soft at the stuffed animal.

"You would've regretted forgetting it later. I remember how I felt my first year," Y/N's father looks to the ground, as he always does when mentioning his school years.

Y/N nods again, keeping silent. Y/N's father grabs onto her hand tightly, as well as propping up the luggage bag he has, patting it so Rusty may jump up on it. Once Rusty does so, he pets the top of his head, then Apparates. They arrive at the back alleyway of King's Cross. An old lady is digging through the trash and pays them no mind. They continue to the inside of the platform, going unnoticed by the unobservant muggles. There, they enter the platform, earlier than expected. They go through the wall, Y/N following after her father. It is a rather odd and unexplainable feeling as she goes through the wall. She shivers as she lands on the other side, the scarlet red engine lighting up her view with its angelic glow.

"Woah," Is all she manages to say.

Her father chuckles, "Nice, isn't it? Lots of witches and wizards love this train. It sent us to our second home, which for most was usually better than our first. Merlin, I miss that."

"Miss what?" Y/N asks, scrunching her eyes in confusion.

Her father gives a genuine smile, "Being young. Now, you better get on that train before it leaves without you. Just remember to write. I love you."

"I love you too, Papa," Y/N hugs him awkwardly, still holding the cage in one hand.

"I'll see you next during Christmas break," He kisses the top of her head before moving aside to wave goodbye as the train goes off.

Y/N puts up her owl, letting him nip her once more as a farewell for now. She then grabs Rusty into her arms, taking her medium sized back, which holds her change of robes and moving to the entrance of the train. She spots several older students, finding a few which strike her as attractive, most notably a beautiful Asian girl, who is wearing blue robes. Y/N says excuse me politely, and the girl moves her friends aside, smiling friendly at Y/N.
