Contracting my life in LA for now until I return to my hometown. It's been a great life so far; I just wish Elaina was here to share it with me. I know all she wanted was to get out and come to Cali, but I guess I have to fulfill that dream for both of us.

"Mr. Nelson?" Stephanie entered my office as I stopped searching on the net.

"There's a Kane here to see you," she said out of the blue, and my mind wondered what this guy wanted.

"Send him in," I told her.

She looked very concerned and asked if I needed any protection, but I shook my head.

She nodded and went to get him.

"Damn, Slim's got it going on," the first thing that came out of Kane's mouth as he was checking out all the Picassos and other exhibits around my office area.

"Yes, Mr. Nelson will see you now," she asked as he nodded and followed her down to my office.

He looked as if he had seen a ghost after noticing Elaina's portrait in the corner of my office.

"Sup bro," I told him as I told Stephanie he's good.

"Mayne you hit the lottery or something?"

The first thing that came out of his mouth as I couldn't help but laugh my ass off.

"Nah, just laying low. I moved up here to start my own art gallery," I told him as he looked around at all the exhibits and sculptures.

"Damn, you sure ain't from the hood anymore?" He laughed, and I did the same.

"Nah, I don't forget where I come from, but I have an exhibit tonight. Although I'd like to invite a couple of folks from our hometown, I'm not sure about that," I smirked.

"I mean, nigga, you Hollywood now? What, you gotta have a Kardashian and mixed biracial kids?" he joked as I shook my head.

"Now that's just a stereotype as hell," I laughed.

"I'm actually single right now. I've splurged here and there, but it's nothing really out there," I told him as he nodded.

"True, can't trust these hoes," he blurted out as I laughed.

"True, but you came at the perfect time. I was trying to go back to the case from 6 months ago," I told him as his eyes curved to the side.

"Ooh, man. I understand that, but you know how hard-headed Elaina was? She wouldn't stay out of trouble. Nah, I won't say it was wrong for her to be killed, but luckily none of us were," he said truthfully as I couldn't put my finger on it.

"Yeah, but there's no reason for her to get killed. There's something else behind it," I told him as he stayed quiet after that.

"Aye, but listen. I'll be at your exhibit tonight, but until then, won't you let this shit go? You're a huge big-time art executive now?" he said out of the blue as my eyebrow arched.

"Nah, I just can't forget she's dead, Kane. Why would I forget the night she was murdered?" he sighed, tearing up.

"It's because Shawn, bro, he's a monster," he blurted out.

I could feel that Stephanie was going to ask if I needed to start the show soon, but I knew I needed to hear more and let her know to schedule things a little later.

"You got a minute?" I told him as he nodded cautiously and closed the door.

"Alright, talk," I urged him as he seemed like he could barely speak.

"From what I know, Shawn was talking to her privately after the night you dropped her off," he briefed as I nodded my head.

"And what happened?" I insisted as his eyes continued to water.
