Hospital

Brody

The next morning, things weren't so different. Same procedure as the doctor required, as I chilled in the room, watching a little bit of Power before the doctor willed her for surgery.

"Good morning, Mr. Nelson?" The day nurse entered in as she was still sleeping a bit. I smiled while brushing my teeth.

"The doctor will be here soon," she said and walked over to examine her bed, checking her vitals, heart, and pressure as she slightly moved her fingers a bit.

"Mrs. Nelson?" She smiled softly at her as my eyes curved a bit with hers slightly open with a confused look on her face.

"Ma'am?" She spoke hoarsely as the nurse gently removed the tube from her mouth.

"I was saying, it's time to wheel you into surgery," she announced.

She was still confused about where she was, then she peeked her eyes over and saw where I was, gently resting her eyes.

"Your husband will be here once we're all done, okay?" The nurse stated as she softly nodded her head, taking a huge yawn.

"So far, are you in any pain?" she asked.

"No, ma'am, just my chest, that's all," she coughed.

"Yes, you were shot directly in the chest. Thank God there's not any critical condition, but we'll need to perform surgery to remove the fragment from your chest," she announced, her eyes staring at mine.

"This isn't a life-threatening situation, is it?" The nurse smiled softly.

"Luckily, we are able to remove this one. If not, we would have had to bury you yesterday," her stomach turned.

"Oh God, I think I'm gonna to be sick," she quickly leaned up as the nurse swiftly inserted a pan in front of her. She started lightly puking as I gently rubbed her back, and the nurse gave her some water.

"It's just nerves, hun. That happens," she softly gives her the water as she takes sips of it.

"So, how long is this procedure?" she asked as the nurse checked her charts.

"It'll last for an hour or two. Once you're done, we'll bring you to the recovery room and then to your official room until you're ready to be discharged," she tells her as she nodded her head and brushed her hair with her hands.

"Your mother called as well. She'll be bringing the rest of your things. But right now, I'm going to see another patient and I'll be back as soon as you get through," she told her as she nodded, laying against her pillows.

"Feeling better?" I kindly asked her as she blinked her eyes a bit and wiped the corners of her lips.

"Just what happened?" She kept asking as I rinsed my mouth with mouthwash.

"You were shot," I told her as she examined her chest a bit.

"How?"

"Well, Shawn was going to shoot me, but you saved me by catching the bullet," I softly rubbed her hair as she kindly smirked.

"I saved you?" I nodded.

"You did, and I was worried sick about you." She nodded.

"Wait where's Mommy? Where's my dad?"

"Just relax, they'll be right up once you're out of the procedure," I told her as she had a worried look on her face, and I kindly rubbed my fingers with hers.
