When Hailey found out that Garett and Jungkook had both left, she dashed to the hospital.
There on the hospital bed lay Lisa, her back all patched up with medicine, but her wounds were still festering.
She was lying on her side, her eyes blank, just staring out the window.
As Hailey approached, she realized Lisa was in so such pain that she was breaking out in a cold sweat, but hadn’t made a peep.
She was clutching the sheets, as if trying to alleviate the pain, but it was no use.
Seeing Lisa like this, Hailey couldn’t help but shed tears, “Lisa…”
Hearing Hailey’s voice, Lisa slowly lifted her eyes, her unfocused gaze fixed on the figure in front of her for a long while.
When she finally made out it was Hailey, she parted her dry lips and whispered, “Hailey…”
Hailey could sense the helplessness in Lisa’s tone.
Touched, Hailey picked up a towel nearby, bent down and wiped the sweat off Lisa’s forehead.
“Lisa, Liana told me nobody’s taking care of you, so I rushed here. Sorry I’m late.”
Lisa, enduring the intense pain, gave her a small shake of her head, as if trying to say something but not knowing what to say.
As Hailey was gently wiping her forehead, she noticed the divorce papers by Lisa’s pillow.
She picked them up and took a glance, her brows furrowing when she saw the names.
No wonder Garett’s phone was off. Turned out he and Lisa got divorced.
Hailey looked at Lisa, so pale and feeble, and her heart ached even more.
“Lisa, Garett probably thought Jungkook would stay by your side, that’s why he divorced you…”
Lisa managed to put on a weak smile, seemingly too tired to talk about it.
Hailey sat down by the bed, held Lisa’s hand, as if trying to lend her some strength, and gave it a squeeze.
“Lisa, it’s okay. They might have left, but I’m still here. I’ll be by your side, and I will never leave you.”
Liana had said that Jungkook chose to let go, leaving Lisa to Garett, and that was why he didn’t come to take care of Lisa.
She immediately called Garett, hoping to rekindle their old flame, but she didn’t expect him to also let go..
Jungkook, breaking off their agreement three years ago, left Lisa once. This would be the second time.
Garett, having amnesia eight years ago, left Lisa once. This would be the second time.
They both chose to leave Lisa, but not her.
She, Hailey, would stick by Lisa, taking good care of her.
A sense of warmth filled Lisa, and a hint of color came back to her vacant eyes, “Hailey, thank you for all these years…”
Just like a big sister, Hailey stroked her sweaty hair, “The best thanks would be for you to get better soon.”
Life had been too hard to her Lisa. Always trying to hold on tight to something, but always slipping away, and in the end, still got dumped.
