The landscape was desolate, with a crimson hue painting the horizon. The air was thick and tasted metallic, as though the very atmosphere bled. But the most striking feature was the massive blood moon, so close that Lucan felt he could reach out and touch it. Its deep red glow illuminated the barren terrain, casting eerie shadows.

From a distance, a haunting howl echoed, sending shivers down Lucan's spine. He turned, searching for the source of the sound, and that's when he saw it. The black wolf. Majestic and fierce, its fur shimmered as if absorbing the light from the blood moon. Its eyes locked onto Lucan's with an intensity that felt almost human.

As Lucan and the wolf stared at one another, an inexplicable connection formed between them. It wasn't fear but a deep sense of understanding, as if the wolf knew Lucan's deepest thoughts, fears, and desires. It began to approach him, each step measured and deliberate.

The ground beneath Lucan's feet vibrated with each step the wolf took, and with each vibration, memories flashed before his eyes—moments of joy, sorrow, fear, and hope. It was as if the wolf was showing him glimpses of his past and hints of his future.

As the wolf got closer, Lucan could hear a soft whisper carried by the wind: "The blood moon is more than a celestial event..."

The distance between them dwindled until the wolf stood just inches away. It then lowered its head, nudging Lucan's hand with its snout. An overwhelming rush of emotions flooded him: sadness, understanding, determination.

But before he could process the feelings, a bright light enveloped everything, blinding him. As the intensity grew, Lucan felt a pull, dragging him back to consciousness and away from the wolf, the blood moon, and the mysteries they held.

And then, he awoke.

Lucas awoke with a yelp, his heart beating rapidly in his chest. The dream--or maybe vision--of the blood moon and the black wolf, lingered in his mind. It felt like he could still feel the beast's haunting eyes burned into his memory.

Every detail was vivid: the way the wolf's fur shone under the blood moon and the words it spoke: The blood moon is more than a celestial event.

Shaking his head to dispel the lingering  fear, he noticed a letter on his beside table, from his mom:

"Lucan,

I've got to get groceries for your birthday dinner today. Have breakfast, there is leftover Chinese in the fridge. Don't forget to invite Leah, Mia and Jake to dinner. Also, if you see a strange person lingering near our house, avoid them!

Happy Birthday,

Lots of Love,

Mom."

He barely had time to process the note, when a suprising burst of energy surged through him. His senses were heightened. The room around him was shaper, the colours brighter and more vivid. Sounds around him--Birds chirping, the hum of cars as they drove past his house, even the gentle wind of his neighbor's AC--became crystal clear.

Out of instinct, he tries to get up, but instead of a simple motion, he found himself crashing into the wall with a THUD. Confused, he rubbed his forehead. Trying to ignore the pain, he spots an unfamiliar book on his dresser. It was old, its leather cover worn out with age. Curious, he grabbed the book and started reading.
