Five months.
Five months have gone by just like that.
It is deemed strange and bewildering to many on how time always seems to be against us. In the blink of an eye, seconds quickly turn into minutes, then hours, days, weeks, months. It seems so surreal, and is a lot to take in. No matter what happens, time is of the essence, and would go by in a flash nonetheless.
Hailey was in the teacher's lounge, carrying a pile of papers that seemingly looked important in her arms. She was helping out Ms. Jones, who had requested some assistance from her students. Hailey being one of them.
With a tired sigh, the blue-haired student set the papers down onto a table. She had realised how heavy they felt in her hold. Good thing she didn't have to keep them in her hands anymore. A crack was heard from Hailey's fingers as she bent them back a little bit. She then cracked her knuckles, and brushed her hair away from her eyes.
"Is that all the papers for Ms. Jones, Hailey?" A gentle, feminine voice perked up from someone who was also in the teacher's lounge.
"Uh, yeah. That looks to be all the sheets, Daisy." Hailey gave her reply while she sorted out the pile on the table. She didn't look behind her to create eye-contact with the person who had just spoken to her. Instead, she kept her back facing them, going through the white sheets, and licking her index finger to easily tell the papers apart.
Daisy walked up to her side and examined the sheets. "That's good! It's nice to help the teachers every now and then, especially since they work so hard too."
Hailey glanced over at Daisy, resulting in baby blue meeting a deep grey. She shot the school's head girl a smile and looked down at the table. "Yeah, it's nice to help out. You're right.."
When all the work supposedly was completed, Hailey took a breath for herself and nudged Daisy's shoulder gently to get her attention.
"Anyways, if everything is done here, I better get going. I have to go to the school's rooftop. I'm meeting up with my boyfriend, and best friend." Hailey gathered her belongings and headed towards the exit door. "I'll just go to my locker to put my things away."
"No problem, Hailey! Thanks for helping out! Have a good day!" Daisy waved at her with a cheery grin on her face. Hailey returned it, and waved back at her. She couldn't deny that Daisy's never-ending positive attitude was able to put anyone in a good mood. She was just so smiley and full of love, it was near impossible to not feel relaxed and calm around her.
After waving goodbye to her friend, Hailey opened the door and left the teacher's lounge. She knew that before going up to the rooftop, she would have to make a quick pit stop at her locker, and also the school's gardens. Hailey wanted to pick up something small first. By then, she would go upstairs, and meet the two boys that meant absolutely everything to her.

As the sunlight was shining down on his golden locks of hair, Jake was sitting up against the rooftop's fence. He had his knees up while his hands rested on them. Truth be told, the boy had been in this spot for quite a while now. He occasionally glanced at his phone to check the time and calculate how long he has been waiting around in his head.
He gazed up at the clear sky, and saw the many birds flying above, crows to be specific. He heard the noises they made, which were the only sounds heard at that moment. Jake didn't know how much longer he would have to wait but he hoped it wouldn't be for what felt like a century.
Jake was on the brink of zoning out for another ten minutes until suddenly, the door leading inside the rooftop was pushed open. It revealed the person behind to be Hailey. The two of them locked eyes with each other before a huge, toothy grin made its way onto Hailey's countenance.
