I woke up to the sound of continuous knocking on the door of my hotel room. It caused Julien to stir and roll over in bed next me, but she's a deep sleeper of course she didn't wake up. I was already awake anyways, I couldn't sleep, still nervous about our first show tonight.
'One second I'm coming' I called out
When I checked the time it was 6:30am. Who would be wanting me this early, I thought to myself, I hope out hotel hasn't been leaked. I put on my duck slippers- that Abby had bought me for secret Santa last year- and threw on the shorts down the side of my bed.
When I opened the door it was Lucy, she had tear stained cheeks and her lip was trembling.
'Abby's gone' she sobbed 'i woke up this morning and she was gone'
'Woah woah' I said as she melted into my hug 'are you sure she didn't just go out
'No no, you don't get it' she said her voice hoarse and quiet 'i kissed her last night'
I looked at her in shock, now understanding of what happened. I've known Lucy for a long time, she cared about Abby and wouldn't usually get emotional over anything.
'Come in' I said quietly 'let me wake Julien up'
Juliens Pov
When phoebe woke me up the first thing I saw was Lucy sitting in an armchair in the corner of the room. She had a big cardigan wrapped around her and was rocking up and down while biting the inside of her cheek.
'What happened to you?' I asked sitting up while rubbing my eyes.
'She's worried about Abby' Phoebe said 'she's gone missing'
'Missing!!!' I shouted 'well is she ok, where is she?'
'Well that's thing, she's missing so we don't know where she is' She told me, raising her eyebrow
'Abby's so mad at me' Lucy sobbed 'she's not replying to any of my texts or messages or anything'
'Well what if she's just gone out or something' I said with a slight smile, trying to lighten the mood
Lucy looked away, obviously not confident in my answer. She started rocking again and was now playing with the buttons on her cardigan. Another tear fell from her eye and trickled down her cheek.
'They kissed last night' Phoebe mouthed at me while Lucy was looking away
Oh, that's why she was so upset. The same thing happened to me and maya, except I was the one that ran away. I knew exactly how Abby would be feeling right now, so I thought that I should go after her.
'Look I'll go look for her, you two stay here' I insisted before going to get changed.
I quickly grabbed some jeans and a the first shirt I found, a weyes blood shirt before throwing on some shoes, grabbing my bag and keys and running out the door.
'If I don't find her in half an hour I'll call you' I shouted before shutting the door behind me.
I knew where she would be, the park down the road. It's where all the Nashville locals go, one, to hide out from tourists and two, because there's a dog park- and who doesn't love dogs. It's where me, Abby and Lucy would go sometimes when we were younger, it's where I performed one of my first shows.
I was practically running down the road, it's so unlike Abigail to just vanish like this, and I know she's not in the best mindset and the moment and I don't know which way this would turn her.
That's when I found her, I recognised her from her curly brown hair, the matching Mitski shirt that Lucy was wearing this morning and her battered up dc martens.
'Abby?' I called out rushing over to her 'what are you doing it's like 7am, Lucy is worried sick about you'
She had been watching the early birds walk their dogs in the dog park. She was sitting on a bench watching the Pomeranian's in particular. When she turned around to look at me I could tell she had been crying, she had puffy eyes and she had been wiping away her tears.
'Oh Abby' I said reaching out for a hug
'She must be so mad at me, I kissed her last night and now I've run away, I'm so sorry Julien it's just I don't know what to do anymore' She cried into my chest.
'She's not mad I promise' I sighed 'we were all just worried about you
'You promise' she whispered, looking up at me with teary eyes
'Cmon let me sit for a minute' I said as I she shuffled up
'How did you know where I'd be?'
'Well you used to come here all the time, and I know you miss Joanie so I thought you'd want to see some dogs'
She leaned her head on my shoulder as she sniffled, we sat there for a few minutes before she started to worry again.
'Is Lucy ok?' She asked suddenly
'She's ok, just worried' I told her 'why do you think we should go back now'
'Maybe' she whispered, looking guilty
'Ok then, we'll walk slowly' I told her quietly as I grabbed her hand.
She smiled at me as we walked back in silence to the hotel, the sun just starting to rise as we left the park. We didn't talk much while we were there, but we just understood what each other felt. I knew she needed silence right now, and I didn't want to worry her about what had just happened. We may not have grown up together, but we grew as people together and that's always what matters most.
