Homemade Cornbread

1 1/2 cups  cornmeal

1 cup flour

1/4 cup sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt 

1 egg

1 3/4 cups whole milk

1/2 stick margarine or butter 

Turn oven on, set to 400*. Place half stick of margarine or butter in a 9x9 cake pan, place cake pan into oven until butter is melted . Mean while add first five items to a large bowl, blend with whisk then add egg and half of the milk then mix an set aside. Remove pan from oven. Add the other half of milk  and melted butter to the bowl ; mix until completely combined pour mix into cake pan bake until cracked  and browned enjoy
