For The Love Of Whiskers {Phan AU}

Prologue

(A/N this is my first phanfic so even though everyone says this, sorry since my only experience is reading it. Also, this is just the prologue so it's short, but I promise the chapters will be longer)

Police officers POV

"Morning Bob," I say to my assistant. He just grunts in response, like always. There is never anything interesting going on here! Day after day of "Hi officer! I'm sorry I was speeding please don't give me a ticket." I'm not even supposed to be handing out tickets! I should be helping solve crime, but no, I'm a girl so even if a male rat came in he would get priority over me! I head over to the kitchen to grab a coffee since that's what I do every day since nothing ever happens!

I put my cup under the machine and half way through it brewing my boss comes in frantically. He probably just wants me to get him coffee. "Ali go to the meeting room right now I need you on the case!" He yells at me. Oh, so I get to work now? No use fighting so I reply "yes sir" and he leaves to find another person to yell at. I wait for my coffee then head over.

When I get to the meeting room every seat is taken but the one at the very front. Perfect so I can't even make sarcastic comments under my breath or speak since my boss is looking over my head. I reluctantly sit down and wait for my boss to come storming in yelling and we aren't on time. He's kinda the devil.

Right as I think that he comes in and says "okay I'd yell at you for not being on time but this is urgent." I think everyone in that room rolled their eyes at that. He looks really conflicted but settles on saying "okay for the past month we've had 8 murders that we all know are connected. The victim is shot in the heart then decapitated. When people arrive on the scene the head isn't there. The next day the head is at our station, but there are cat whiskers tattooed on and 'D&P'. We are almost certain about who are behind these murders, but we can't catch them. We strongly suspect it's Daniel James Howell and Philip Michael Lester." Why do I know those names? "Great question Ali, and yes you said that out loud. They are better known as Dan and Phil or AmazingPhil and danisnotonfire. They are YouTubers and BBC radio one DJs. You may be wondering why can't you just go and catch them if you know where they live? After careful investigation, we have found their address and confirmed it by watching their videos. We got a warrant to arrest them but when we got there the only thing there we could find were cat whiskers spray painted on all the walls. Gone without a trace. It's almost like they never existed.There was no furniture, no cracks in the tiles, no nothing.The reason I am telling you people is because our current team has given up. They think it isn't possible to find them. Any questions?"

I have quite a few and raise my hand. Also, we are cops so why do we need to raise our hands? "Ali?" Here goes nothing, "what days are the murders taking place on? Is it twice a week or random? Do the cat whiskers have 3 lines on each side? How many cat whiskers were spray painted on the walls?Have they posted a goodbye video?" Everyone there thinks I'm out of my mind, but they should know better, my sister loves them and all she does is blab about them to me so I'm kinda an expert. "They are taking place on Tuesdays and Sundays. It's estimated to be taken place at 20:00 on Sundays and 21:00 on Tuesdays. Yes, the cat whiskers have 3 lines on each side. I believe there were 2009 cat whiskers spray painted.Yes, there are goodbye videos on each YouTube channel" Those are exactly the answers I needed. "Okay listen up I have major information that more or less confirms the suspects. The murders are taking place when their live shows should be. That's the exact day and time. It is common to do 3 lines on each side when drawing cat whiskers and that's what they do. That isn't that major but still. Lastly, 2009 is the year they first got to meet each other in real life. If they post a goodbye video no one will expect any updates so they can do whatever. Also no I am not emotionally invested in this case it's my sister who is obsessed and she talks about them all the time." My boss and everyone in the room looks at me like I just said I'm an alien. I lean back and take a sip of my coffee. "Okay everyone Ali is in charge of this case." I spit out my coffee and exclaim "WHAT?!?!?!" I have to have heard wrong. I've never been head of an investigation here! "It's clear you know a lot about these people and can lead the case so you are in charge." my boss tells me. I can't do anything but sit there processing this.

I'm in charge of a case about a string of gruesome murders that are more likely than not are lead by my sisters idols and I have to track these people down. This will be fun.

A/N probably no one is reading this, but I like writing so whatever. Also, this will be Phan but I just need to set the scene. Also please don't think I condone murder since I'm writing about it. Also, as much as I hate to make Phan bad it's (in my opinion) an interesting plot.
