I sit next to Lyra. the doctors said she would wake up soon they didn't know how soon though. She'd been out for a week ever since the members of the party and bah saved us. I run my fingers through her hair. I haven't left the seat since we got here and they put her in this room. An oxygen mask covers her mouth and nose. pretty much all of her body is covered in bandages from the cuts and burns from being tortured. Every once in awhile she'll stir make a noise or say someone's name to my surprise it was usually mine even after what I did to her. every once in awhile she would show signs of having a nightmare or a dream and I would join her and see what was happening.

"Hmmmmm." She says softly and she sighs. She breathes in deeply and I watch her expecting her eyes to open but they don't. She turns her head a little getting comfortable and go silent once again.

"You really need to come back Lyra. Nothing is the same without you Hera's going crazy with worry of course she's relieved I'm alive and well but once she saw you." I say shaking my head. I watch her face as if I expect her to smile and laugh and tell me to tell her she was fine.

"Ezra is worried about you keeps thinking he could have made a difference in the fight against Stife which I guess he could have but not a positive one for us. Steel tryst to stay here but Kinna is a better choice for take over leader. And Steel well talk about some one who really needs to get a hobby." I laugh as I squeeze her hand.

"He's hanging on for now but he's stressed about you and what's left of the Sift and everyone else has put a great burden on him." I say softly.

"Kanan...." she whispers softly. She sounds so clear I think she's awake but when I look at her I see she's still asleep.

" she must be close to waking up if she's talking that clearly." I think to myself. She turns her head from side to side as if looking for something or someone. This time I don't hesitate I take my hand away from her and cross my legs to meditate. This time it's different than any other time I've gone into our dreams this time it's like I'm actually her I see it all from her point of view.

I run away from one of the southern towns on Lothal running to my hideout some where in the hills far out in a field. My red and orange hair flies behind me as I run.

The scene changes

" you are safe now sleep and everything will be fine." Someone says and everything vanishes as darkness surrounds me.

"Sleep I... I don't want to sleep I'm not tired." Lyra says to her self but I can hear it.

"You can wake up you can you don't have to sleep anymore its okay to get up. Just open your eyes." I tell her through our force connection. I try to stay calm not to get my hopes up. I open my eyes and uncross my legs and watch her. I see her eyes moving behind her eyelids.

" where am I? Where is my father? Is he alive?!" she asks and I smile.

" I'm right here just open your eyes." I say softly taking her hand into mine. Her eyes were open softly but close quickly because she's blinded by the light. She squeezes her eyes shut for one second then opens them again this time they're open for good.

She turns her head and looks at me. her bangs cover her left eye so it's hard to see. "Kanan?" she asks her voice dry but other than that ok. I nod my head and she smiles at me. She turns her head and faces upwards and I can finally see her left eye. Instead of the friendly green she got in from her mother's eyes it was purple a dark purple like the purple of her armor. her other eye is still green but this one isn't. she was two sided was this a result to her opening herself to the dark side as Ash had explained. I decide to ignore it... for now.

"Lyra your okay your on the MD." I tell her softly and she smiles but it falters as she realizes something.

"Kanan how long was I out?" She asks me and I look down.

"A week Ash told me to... to kill Stife you... you connected to the dark side of the force." I say softly.

"Kanan I'm sorry I never wanted to but it was the only way." She says looking at her tears building in her eyes.

"I know Lyra it's okay." I say softly rubbing the top of her head. "You need rest." I say softly.

"I'm not tired and I don't want to go to sleep." She whines and I smile for the first time in for ever.

"I know sweetie but resting will help you get better faster." I say softly as she looks at me. I get up and she grabs my arm. I smile at her and lay her back down. I turn of the light and lay my head on my arms as I lay them on her bed falling asleep with her. I feel her breathing softly in front of me.
