Weak

It's been two weeks since you've started working for the Spider-Society and things have been okay. Surprisingly uneventful. You just caught anomalies, and it all went well, with hardly any struggle. It does keep you busy, which is good, and you've already started to make new friends.

There is one thing, though. One problem you have. And that problem is Miguel O'Hara. Every mission you've gone on, he's been there, breathing down your neck.

You know better than to think he enjoyed your company. He's micromanaging you, pointing out the smallest mistakes you make, and it's getting very irritating. It's like he expects you to mess up somehow and destroy the whole multiverse.

"It's really starting to get on my nerves." You vented to Jessica and Peter B as you ate your lunch. "It's like he thinks I'm gonna have some massive breakdown and screw everything up. Was he like that when you guys first started here?"

The two traded glances. "Not really." You groaned, hiding your face in your hands.

"Listen, if you got a problem with Miguel, why don't you just tell him? The best way to handle him is by being as blunt and direct as he is." Jessica remarked.

"Are you sure? I mean, I guess that'll work, but he's still my boss." To be honest, you had no idea why he was in charge. He had no leadership skill, besides using fear tactics. The only reason why he was in charge was because he came up with this thing in the first place. But still, who died and made him king?

"Well, it's either that or doing what you're still doing, and nothing will change." She said, and you knew she had a point. "I agree with Jess. Trust me kid, the guy is all bark no bite. You just need to fight back."

Just then, your watch went off, a hologram of Miguel appearing. Speak of the devil.  "_______. I need you for a mission."

"I'll be there in a couple of minutes." You said, sighing when his hologram disappeared, ending the call. You finished up the rest of your fries, getting to your feet and stepping away from the table.

"You got this, kid! Just remember to bark back!" Peter called after you, giving you a thumbs up. You smiled, waving him off. He's going to make a great father.

You and Miguel swung from building to building together, following the knocked down telephone lines, where the anomaly Electro gained his power. "Keep your eyes open, according to the tracker we should be getting close."

"I know that. I can see it on my watch. You don't have to tell me." You mumbled. "What was that?"

He asked, hearing your complaints. "I just don't get it. It's not like I'm new to this. I've been Spiderwoman for the past twelve years. I can handle these missions just fine. I don't need your supervision all the time."

It was nice to get all of it out, and it was also good that you were doing it while swinging. That way, you could be focusing on something else and not be as nervous.

"Do we have to do this right now?" Miguel asked exasperatedly. You frowned at that.

"I mean, it's not like I can just set up a meeting. You said it yourself: you're busy, and I'm busy too. So why are you wasting your time micromanaging me?"

You had a solid idea why, but you wanted him to say it. If there was anything you learned from the other spiders and hearing their experiences, was that you weren't like them. They had big losses here and there, but they still had people. Someone to love and care for. You didn't have that. You had lost everything.Miguel knew and he thought you were damaged. But with the rumors you've heard about him, who was he to judge?

"That's not what I'm doing." He replied. Getting more frustrated, you began to move even faster, with him right on your tail.

"Bullshit." You mumbled under your breath. Suddenly, your spidey-sense goes off and a bolt of electricity zips right past you. He  reacted later and was hardly able to dodge it. " _____, focus!"

"I am focused!" You snapped back, dodging the bolts being thrown at you. You webbed the anomaly, hitting his arms and his mouth, yanking him back and slamming him into the brick wall behind you and knocking him out.

You stopped in the alleyway where Electro was, and slipped your mask off your head, waiting for him to catch up.  "See? Easy. I'm not some porcelain doll that needs to be kept in a cabinet. I'm not going to break. I can do this."

Miguel sauntered over, looming above. His mask disappeared from his face, and you could see the frown he had on. His eyebrows were furrowed, lips dipped down, and his eyes darkening.  He tossed a trap on Electro, stopping him from getting up and attacking again.

"You're forgetting one thing. I'm in charge. You're not. You do what I say, no questions asked. You follow my commands. I say 'jump,'  you say 'how high?' The missions you go on aren't your call. They're mine. Got it?"

You take a deep breath, holding back your anger. You already let enough out, saying anything else right now will only make things worse. "I got it."

He turned away from you, opening a portal with his watch and taking Electro with him. "C'mon, let's go."

You trailed behind him, thinking you had failed completely. You tried to express how you felt, and tried to be blunt...but you probably should've  worded it better. But then, Miguel stopped.

"And for the record. I'm not doing this because I think you can't handle it, or that you're weak or anything as idiotic as that. So stop getting in your head and just do your job."

That shocked you. He was firm and straight to the point, but it was also exactly what you wanted to hear....Maybe he isn't as terrible as you thought. But, he still sucks pretty bad.
