He picked up the notebook that's seated on the side table beside his bed. He flips to the first page and smiles, there's her picture stuck on the page. She's laughing. He flips to the next page and there's something written.
"He's sweet!"
"GM - - enclosed in a heart."
"There's so much to say - - does he feel the same? "
He keeps on flipping pages. There are many pictures of her stuck in the notebook. He's astonished to find his pictures in the notebook.
When he reads further, he finds that there is something written for him as well. His eyes turn watery, she has written all things good about him. On the other hand, all he's given her is pain and rejection.
He flips to the last page of the notebook, and there's a picture of him with her.. Below the picture, there's something written.
"if you're reading this, Gautam, please know that I LOVE YOU. I have always loved you and will love you, even when death sets us apart."
The note ends with her name, Mahika.
He breaks into tears after reading the note and hugs the notebook close to his heart. This notebook is the only belonging of hers that he owns.
She's nowhere in his sight. His life is the gift that she has given him. She has gone far away from him, into the great heavens, while he only owns her memories now.
The Notebook is his new soulmate.
