Long ago, in the lands of Mezhdu, the Gods reigned supreme. They were imbued with incredible powers. Each God was created with an innate power to control a certain element, and this power was contained within their essence. As the Gods interacted with the mortal world, their essence would grow stronger or weaker depending on the strength and number of support from their followers.
However, there was a great consequence for great power. Once a God was defeated— through battle or losing their follower's beliefs—the power held within them would be lost forever. It was said that their power would be returned to the flow of life, fueling the very essence of the world. This knowledge gave the ancient people of Mezhdu a sense of both awe and fear. They knew that their beliefs had the power to affect the Gods and shape the world and that their faith could empower or destroy the Gods. The Gods themselves were acutely aware of this reality, and their power struggles were all the more fierce because of it.
After centuries of power struggle, one God had the resolve to end The War of Gods once and for all. This God was known as the God of Light. She wanted to form a truce between the three other main elemental Gods of Mezhdu, The God of Magic, The God of Chaos, and The God of Life. After the truce was formed between them, the relationship between the Gods significantly improved as they were to work together to maintain peace and prosperity in Mezhdu.
This period is known as 'The Age of Gods', where magic flourished and flowed freely, and the people of Mezhdu learned the ways of magic.
But as time passed, one God grew more powerful and more malicious than the others, wanting to enslave and dominate the very race he once taught. This God was The God of Chaos, his tyranny was absolute and his reign of terror seemed to be never-ending. In what felt like forever, a glimmer of hope appeared. No one dared to question the God of Chaos' rule until the God of Light brought it upon herself to confront and challenge him. A fierce battle took place, and the clash of their weapons echoed across the lands of Mezhdu. Despite her bravery and valiant efforts, The God of Chaos proved to be far too powerful for her.
"Why are you doing this?" he asked after inflicting a critical blow to the God of Light, "You do know that... your powers are no match for me."
It doesn't matter if she dodges or blocks, her power is no match for the God of Chaos. With a swift strike, the God of Light is sent hurtling back toward the ground. Shockwaves of unbearable pain felt throughout her body, but she could not back down. Not now or ever.
"My... powers don't define who I am...!"
She was battered and bruised, her eyes showed nothing short of firm resolve.
The God of Chaos coldly looked down on her injured figure, waiting for her surrender.
"You will never defeat me, Vilties." He taunts.
"And you will never break my spirit" She counters whilst using her sword to stand up.
"Then, you are nothing but a fool."
"Fool is simply a term mortals use to describe unwise beings. I am no less wise than you, don't you think?"
He at her, "I am the God of Chaos-"
"You are a God without a heart!" She hissed, spitting out words laced with venom.
"Only mortals need hearts to survive," he paused, "and you..."
The God of Chaos mercilessly raises his spear once again. "Are as pathetic as those mortals you so love."
After a flurry of blows from the God of Chaos endured by the God of Light. She soon realized that the only way to defeat him is by using the Flow of Life within her. She needed to use every single drop of light inside her to enlighten an object so it could become a star. A star that can shine so bright, the darkness within the God of Chaos would disappear. The more she thought about it, she realized there was no item capable of holding that amount of power unless... She used her own body.
