[READ STORY DESCRIPTION TO UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT OF THE STORY.]
Months had passed. Argbur walked by the cold, dark streets, alone. He doesn't remember when was the last time he walked with someone, but it was definitely a long time ago, before his partners died. He had promised himself he would get over it, after all, he knew it would happen eventually, the moment they all got together he knew. Those years with them were the best of his miserable, cold life, but his partners' deadline didn't take long to come. But Argbur loves deadlines, doesn't he? Argbur thought it might be a good idea to go for a drink, after all, he always went out for drinks with Simpbur and Softbur! Oh wait, they're not here anymore. Maybe he could go for a walk in the near forest, like he did with Incelbur! Got news for you, they're not here either. Argbur ended up going to the plaza, sitting on the water fountain, the place were they met. He sighed, getting lost in his thoughts, looking down at his feet, thinking, why did he accept to be with them knowing that, in the end, he'd end up being alone anyways because he was fairly "different"? That was a thought that invaded his mind, and could keep him thinking about it for days, without him wanting to.
—You seem to be missing someone, aren't you?— Someone said, pulling Argbur out of his intrusives thoughts. Argbur looked at the direction the voice came from, an extremely pale guy, who honestly seemed like a ghost, was sitting next to him, it was weird, no one has ever approached to Argbur before, aside from them. —I'm not missing anyone.— He replied harshly, it was unintentional, but that's just the way he talked to new people, they would understand. —But you have the face people have when missing someone.— —I told you I'm not missing anyone.— —Would you like to talk about it?— —Leave me alone.— The ghost boy sighs, and decides to change the topic a little. —What's your name?— —None of your business.— —I'm Ghostbur.— —Okay.— Ghostbur felt like this conversation wasn't getting anywhere, he sighs once again.
—Here, have some blue.— Ghostbur said, handing him a blue substance, Argbur stared at it, confused. —Are you trying to give me drugs?— —Oh no! Blue is something I give people to help them feel less sad, and you look pretty sad so.— —So, a drug.— —It's not a drug! It's literally blue dye.— At first Argbur hesitated to grab it, but the ghost insisted so much that he ended up grabbing it anyways. —I feel the same.— Argbur mentioned after holding the blue, staring at his now blue-stained fingers. —Be patient new friend, you'll feel less sad soon!— —I'm not your friend.
After some time, Ghostbur could tell the blue wasn't really making any effect on the other, so he decides to bring back the topic of missing people. —You know, I miss someone too, or well, more than just one person.— —I already told you I don't miss anyone.— —I understand you might be in denial about it, but listen, it'll be okay.— Argbur looks down, why was someone he just met trying to soothe him over a situation he's trying to get over from by himself? Only they would care about him that much. Despite this weird reject towards the ghost who was just trying to help, Argbur couldn't avoid feeling some kind of understanding, a feeling he was attempting to not feel, for some reason. —You know what, I do miss someone, actually.— He finally admits, he wasn't exactly in the mood to keep denying it. Who knows, maybe it won't be that bad to share this.
—Who do you miss?— —A few people, nothing much.— —Did they leave you? Or. . .— —They're just not here anymore.— —Oh, I'm sorry about that.— —It's fine.— An awkward silence began to fill the place, only broken by the sound of the water fountain they were sitting at, many minutes went by, until Argbur spoke up again. —The name is Argbur, by the way.— —That's a nice name.— —Thanks, I guess.—
The awkward silence began to turn less awkward, becoming a more comfortable silence in a way. —So, you mentioned going through a similar situation. Didn't you?— The silence is broken again by Argbur, who seemed to be a little more talkative now. —Oh, yeah. My partners aren't here anymore either, I knew it would happen eventually, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon.— —I understand.— The silence comes back, only to be broken again by Argbur. —Do you ever ask yourself why did you got together with your partners despite knowing they'll eventually leave one by one until you're alone once again?— —Oh, all the time. But I just push those thoughts away, after all, it was an unavoidable thing to happen, and, at least while it lasted, we were happy.—
Those words. Those exact words, somehow, made Argbur feel understood. He's never talked with Ghostbur before until now, and yet he seemed like the only person who understood the situation. Argbur promised himsf to get over this. Argbur promised himself he would not cry over this. But that was not a possibility now. Tears began to form in the corner of his eyes, he missed them, he really did, but not only that, he loved them, way more than he ever showed it to them, probably one of his biggest regrets. Said tears began to roll down his cheeks, his throat hurting from trying to hold them back, Ghostbur realized this quickly, sitting slightly closer to him. —Is everything okay, Argbur?— The ghost asked, placing his hand on the other's shoulder, in an attempt to comfort him. —I miss them.— Argbur admitted, between sobs and tears, he was hugging himself tightly, trying to soothe himself, like he always did.
Suddenly, Argbur felt a hug, it was from Ghostbur. A cold hug between them, both bodies technically freezing, but in all that cold, there was warm. A comforting warm. The silence, only broken by Argbur's crying, and the water fountain, is fully broken by Ghostbur this time. —I know what it feels to miss them, they were special to you. Everyone misses someone they've lost, and that's okay, I promise I won't judge you for it.— The voice was comforting, it was quiet, but most importantly, it had an understanding tone. Argbur finally felt like someone understood him, in the same exact way they understood him before. Argbur quickly hugs Ghostbur, not really wanting to let go from it.
—Thank you.—
—No problem, Argbur.—Maybe, for the first time in months, they've both found someone who could complete them, after a long time of not having anyone.
