It was a cold and breezy Monday morning in Forks, Washington. The second day of the week, meaning Arella Swan had school to attend. A very dreadful day was in the mist of commencing, as the young girl has been having trouble staying awake for the past few weeks. The dark clouds overtook the morning sky, blocking the suns rays from touching the her skin, and the sidewalk beneath her bare feet as she stood outside her house with blue patterned pyjama pants and a simple black graphic T-shirt.

The tall green trees whisked around soothingly, as variations of cars passed by in the early hour. Her hair was all over the place as her lips were dried and cracked. She took a small whiff of her breath and cringed back in disgust before smacking it shut. She had just woken up only a few minutes ago, and the reason for that was her father, Charlies doing, as he wanted her to see the big surprise he had obtained for her before he went off to work early this morning.

It was seven in the morning, and he believed it would be a great start to her day. He noticed the deep hollowness the girl in front of him held for the past few days, replacing the brightness she once radiated. And it was all fault of a stupid boy named Mike Newton. A boy he had to restrain himself from chasing with his car.

Arella had never given a boy a chance in fear of getting hurt, but Mike was nice and was always a gentleman around her, so she decided he may be worth letting in. He would be the first boy to ever make Arella Swans heart race and her cheeks flush red.

She found herself falling for his smiles, laughs, and cheesy jokes. But mostly, how he would do everything in his power to make her smile on the gloomiest days. It was like a new beginning of life, where the dark and lonely days didn't seem so dark and lonely anymore. And peace steeled down next to her every time she was in his arms or simply near his radiant laugh.

She felt happy and wanted, which was something she had only experienced with her dad but in a more parental loving way. She gave him loyalty and love, in exchange for all his cheesy remarks and endless kisses on the cheek.

It was all great, but she just wished she had been warned sooner of its ending before being squashed down to the centre of the earth the moment he told her he felt nothing for her anymore. That the zing he once held had vanished off the face of the planet one day.
