~Brookelle's POV~
I kept running, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop. My heart was pounding out of my chest, and I was swiftly sliding rock, to rock. I stopped as soon as I got to the very first house in the village, I froze. I know the arrangement of the houses by heart. I sighed, holding my knees, feeling the pain surrounding my entire leg. Deeply breathing, I ran into the fifth house without knocking. I saw Joey in the kitchen, cooking his favorite food. He was making Mac 'n Cheese with Cheesy Mashed potatoes.
"Hey Joe, got room for one more?" I asked, trying to seem calm. I slid my arm across the counter onto his back, as he turned to me. I kissed him on the cheek and he smiled.
"Oh Brooke, you couldn't have come at a more perfect time, my mother is visiting, and she's bringing my sister." Joey chuckled under his breath and then sighed, "You know, I was just thinking about you coming and surprising me like this. I truly hadn't expected you to come and see me, or I would have been dressed better."
Hearing Joey say that, my first instinct was to look at his entourage. He had a grey pare of sweatpants, a grey striped shirt, and white socks. I smile at him and turned away, walking into his living room. I laid back on his couch, and stared at the ceiling fan. I watched it spin around until Joey came and lifted my head up to make a spot for him to sit. I giggled as I examined the wall paper, "I see you have changed quite a few things in this place. Oh and by the way, I may be having a few... Friends stopping over. They'll be with Sam, just what ever you do, don't let them in without her."
I figured he already knew not to ask me why, because he just shook his head and peered forward, not looking down, nor had he blinked, unless we were blinking in sync, which could have happened because we have so many things in common.
"Look Brooke, I'm not going to ask you why, mainly because I'm too scared to know, but I would prefer to know, who these people are, and do I have to feel threatened by them?"
I sat up, and looked directly where he was staring off at, "Not necessarily. They aren't that harmful, but I wouldn't trust one of them alone with anyone, and yet the second one doesn't completely have my trust." I replied, feeling as though we we're being watched.
He was staring at a vase. I stood up and walked toward it. He didn't say anything, just watched. I picked the vase up and shook it. I heard a rattling sound, and without hesitation, reached my arm inside. It was a necklace with a key connected to the chain. Engraved on the key was the letter "B".
"What's this for?" I smiled, already knowing that he got it for me. I examined the shape and sizes, and every detail.
"It leads to a secret place." He whispered, I figured he was going to tell me, and waited to receive an answer.
"Where's this so called, 'secret place'?" I asked, walking towards the couch, and climbing on it. I waited there on my hands and knees, at eye contact distance.
"You'll just have to wait and see." He teased. I pushed away and started to pout. Not because it would give me what I wanted, but because I knew that I could have anything if I truly wanted it bad enough, I was still just thinking that I had no where to go to be completely safe, besides in Joey's arms.
I leaned in on his shoulder, and buried my head. I could feel the tears building up, and the only thing that I knew, and was worried about was me and Sam getting out of this crazy mess. And just then it hit me, and I know it took a while, but it just triggered me. "SAM, I FORGOT ABOUT SAM WE NEED TO GO AND GET HER, QUICK PLEASE, SOMEONE!"
Just as I had called out for help for Sam, Joey had stopped me from storming out of the door. "We don't know what these people are capable of doing, Brooke I won't let you leave here without guard and weaponry. I bet they took everything away from you. Here, go into my basement, I'll meet you down there, I just have to make sure they can't invade the place while we're down there, and if they try, they'll just see a hologram that will interact, no questions, just trust me, please Brookelle, just trust me.
