CHAPTER 16
luminescence
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

You never knew you had such a hard time with dating someone.

You aren't exactly bad when it comes to guys and flirting with them. You're pretty decent if you say so yourself. Sure, a couple of your friends are way better than you are and have way better game, but that doesn't mean that you're necessarily bad. In your opinion, you're probably in the middle of your friend group. But somehow you've become worse over the span of a few months, and the date with Soobin is going terribly wrong.

"I'm so sorry!" you bring out, embarrassed by the fact you spilled a drink all over his shirt. "I'm never this clumsy, but somehow I am this time..."

He chuckles, the dimples in his face showing as he does so. He's very cute.

"It's okay, luckily it's just water. Don't worry, Riley, you're fine."

His white shirt is soaked at the bottom. Luckily for him he still wears a stylish black jacket on top, so he can cover it up if he needs to.

You shake your head and sigh. "I'm still sorry."

"No worries, really. Hey, I wasn't that thirsty anyway," he says with a chuckle.

You smile and nod. "If you want a sip of mine, don't hesitate."

He nods, "I won't."

So far, you and him have walked around the mall a little. You went to a few shops and looked at some Marvel things, nerding out over the superheroes and having a good time talking about the movies.

You guys got a little hungry so you decided to sit down and have a bite at a street food place, where you got some Japanese ramen (your favourite) and a drink. But now that your food is gone and you're just left with the drink, you spill his drink all over him.

"Hey, I saw there was a market in this hall. There's like small stands everywhere on the first and ground floor, maybe we can take a look?" Soobin asks, looking at you for an answer. "If you'd rather go home that's okay too, but I thought it would be fun."

You nod, "Sure, I was actually hoping we could. I saw a cute stand with The Legend of Zelda things when we walked here."

"Let's go there, then!"

Soobin stands up and so do you. You smile when he takes your drink in his hand and walks away, waiting for you at the end of the seating era. You walk after him and take your drink from him, but he takes a quick sip before he gives it back to you. You chuckle, then walking next to him to watch the stands.

As you arrive at the first floor, you're met by many more stands and people than you originally thought there was. There must be some event that started now that it's past six. Maybe more people have time now, you wouldn't know.

"It's very crowded! But it seems like fun," Soobin says, looking around.

"Can you see the Zelda stand?" you ask. You're not that tall, so it's hard to look over the crowd. But Soobin is quite tall, so he has a good few of all the stands. He can easily see what way you need to go.

"Yes, follow me," he says, holding out his hand. A faint blush appears on your cheek as you place your hand in his, walking after him as he slowly drags you through the crowd.

A few meters away, Chris is standing with his jaw clenched as he watches you and Soobin walk through the crowd, hands tangled, and a smile on both your faces.

That's supposed to be him. He should be walking hand-in-hand with you. Not some random dude you met at the convenience store...

He should have said he was your boyfriend that day. Maybe he would have backed off.
