It had been three weeks since Ji Hye made the painful decision to leave Japan behind three weeks since she left everyone she once knew, everything that had become a source of heartbreak.
The moment she arrived at the airport, she contacted her parents just to let them know she was safe. She wanted to reassure them not to worry or search for her. But what shocked her most was their cold, indifferent response. Instead of concern, they demanded she sign divorce papers and said Hyunjin would do the same.
That revelation shattered her. Even though she no longer wanted anything to do with Hyunjin, the thought that he might sign those papers hurt deeply. But Ji Hye was firm; she refused to sign anything.
Her parents’ reaction escalated quickly. They warned her that if she didn’t return soon, they would block her credit card and seize all her belongings. Ji Hye didn’t take the threat seriously her parents had said similar things before, always trying to manipulate her into compliance.
But this time, they followed through. They blocked her credit card and even blocked her number from their phones. Ji Hye had never cared much about how her parents treated her, but this time, the coldness cut deeper than ever.
It was a painful confirmation..they never truly saw her as their daughter, never loved her. She was just a tool to elevate their business and social standing.
Determined to sever ties, Ji Hye changed her phone number and erased everything that reminded her of them. She deleted all her social media accounts and created new ones. She even deleted every photo of Hyunjin. Despite still loving him, the pain he caused was too much she couldn’t bear to hear his name or see his face.
Running away from everyone was one of the hardest decisions she ever made. Only Chan and Seungmin knew the truth.
Seungmin promised to keep her secret safe.
Ji Hye had wanted to tell Felix and the others but decided against it, knowing they might never forgive her for disappearing.
She felt guilty but knew she needed to escape the darkness that had consumed her. She kept their social media accounts saved, just in case she wanted to reach out someday. One thing was certain she would miss them terribly.
Why Australia?
If you’re wondering why she chose Australia, it was Chan’s idea. He owned a house in Sydney and frequently traveled there. His familiarity with the city made the transition easier for Ji Hye. Chan knew the best places to shop, the hospitals, everything she might need. He made sure she was well prepared for her new life.
Getting her belongings back, especially her passport, was difficult. She was terrified of facing Hyunjin, but luck was on her side. When she went home to retrieve her things, he wasn’t there. She packed a few clothes and left, with Chan’s support.
Ji Hye stayed in a hotel for a few days, as it was too risky to stay at any friend’s house. Chan and Seungmin warned her that Hyunjin had been visiting their homes, along with Felix and others. She needed to stay hidden.
Finally, she left Japan with Chan, ready to start anew in Australia.
10 AM, Sydney, Australia
Chan held both of Ji Hye’s hands tightly.
"Promise me you’re going to be okay, Ji Hye."
Ji Hye giggled softly. "Chan, stop worrying. I’m going to be fine!""You’ve never been here before. That’s why I’m worried," Chan replied.
"You gave me a house, a new phone and number, even a credit card with money on it. What could possibly go wrong? I’m better than ever." She smiled warmly.
