"Khun Metawin, there are so many mistakes and typos in the report that you gave Khun Wanchai. Also, boss is not very fond of abbreviations, I thought you should know that. He would like to see you now in his office, ka," Khun Yui informs Win, who's sitting at his little corner near the secretary's desk.
Win gulps on his own saliva. "Is it that bad, Khun Yui? Tai laew, tai laew. I'm dead, I'm dead," he whispers to himself.
Khun Yui chuckles at his dramatic expression. "You're still in the process of learning, Khun Metawin. And... we'll never know what our boss is thinking. You should go. He's waiting for you," she reminds him. "I'm going home first na ka. It's late already," she smiles before walking away.
"Thanks, Khun Yui." Win takes a deep breath and gets up from his chair. He has been distracted a lot today, thinking about the progress that he has made so far on pursuing Bright. He's overthinking because there's no freaking progress at all. On top of that, he thinks he failed the two tests that he took today. His father will definitely kill him if he ever finds out.
Win knocks on the familiar black door and waits outside a moment. Once he's called in, he twists on the knob and pushes the door open. "You want to see me, papa?" Win asks as he closes the door behind him. Wanchai gestures for him to sit on the sofa at the corner of the room. The young man feels nervous because it can only mean one thing. His father wants to talk about something serious with him.
Wanchai stands up from his chair and moves to the sofa where Win is now sitting at. "What's wrong with you today? What's the matter? I'm so clueless, son. You've been doing good at this and suddenly, you're slacking off. Where has your focus gone?"
Win thinks there's no use of hiding this from his father. "The person that I like..."
"What's with him?"
"I don't think he likes me back," Win says with a small voice, looking at his feet on the grey slate floor.
Wanchai sighs. "You have to be able to solve the problem then," he pats Win's shoulder. "Tell me about him."
What his father just said is enough for his face to light up. So, he begins telling the man everything about his feelings and Bright. He also boasts to him about how good Bright is at writing. "He's different and I-"
"You love him?" Wanchai cuts him off.
Win's throat is dry at that because hell yes, he's falling hard for Bright. At this point, he might even love him. "It doesn't matter, papa. He's not interested in me."
"There you go again, putting yourself down. What did I tell you the other day? Work harder. I don't want this problem to affect your work at this office, son."
"Okay, I'll try again," Win huffs a heavy breath, nodding at his father.
"Okay, good. Now we can go home. Come on," Wanchai stands up and Win follows his suit.
"I don't think I'll go home yet, papa. I want to go on a food hunting first," Win sheepishly grins at the older man. He's so stressed out right now and he wants to forget. His way of coping is by eating. He has to do it before his head explodes.
Wanchai frowns. "Again na? Your mother has been so noisy about this habit of yours. Please consider her worries, son."
"I know. I'm going now," Win immediately leaves his father's office before the man could say anything else. He books a Grab bike on his phone and walks to the lift. The time shows 7 o'clock on the dot.
Fifteen minutes later, Win arrives at a hipster café called Featherstone Bistro Café. He orders some sweet desserts and stays for about an hour there before moving to his next destination for the real dinner. Win enjoys being on the bike at night because of the fresh air and he feels free too. The Grab bike finally stops at a restaurant named La Bottega di Luca. He's craving for Italian food and steak.
