"My reward?"
"You asked for a dance." I reminded.
"But, I haven't done anything deserving of a reward. The plan failed." She said, looking spiritless.
"I have to disagree. You did kill Finn Sullivan in the end. In one of the most satisfying way, might I add." Being the simple-minded person that she is, which is one of her many fascinating qualities that I admire, her mood slightly brightened again.
"Now hurry up, before I change my mind." I made my way into the house.
"Alright." She stood up and follow behind.
As we're now in the library, she put on one of her beloved Chet Baker record. Playing the song, I believed it was titled 'Like Someone in Love'.
Excitement was clearly shown in her brisk patter of footsteps as she paced towards me. My arms caught her waist whilst hers flung around my neck. Our gaze met, and there goes the long awaited gleam in her doe-like eyes each time we began swaying to a song.
Lovely.
Perhaps I should consider doing this more often.
"Oh, how I missed this." A placid smile rested upon her lips. "And surprisingly you still got the moves. Your teacher has taught you well." She teased.
"No, I'm just one hell of a skillful student." I boasted.
"How cocky." She spouted.
"Cocky happens to be my middle name. So get used to it."
"Don't get me wrong, it's actually one of my favorite traits about you."
"What's your least favorite then?" I probed. Half joking, half curious.
She hummed, mulling it over for a few seconds.
"A tough question indeed.""Can't think of any?" I smugly added.
"There's too many to choose from."
With daunting nonchalance, she outrightly admitted. Perhaps a tad too outright.Out of nowhere I felt a hard jab to my gut.
"Ouch, you made me seem like an unredeemable asshole here." Though I brushed off the pain with a light chuckle.
"You aren't?"
Another blow landed on me. Only this time it's even more powerful than the first that I almost choked on my own spit.
"Am I that bad?"
I voiced the doubt I aimed at myself.A complacent laugh suddenly erupted from her.
"No, far from it. I like everything about you."I clicked my tongue.
"Now you're just adding salt to the wound.""It's true, I'm being honest here. Well perhaps except the part where you can be a little bit jerk-ish sometimes." She bit her plump lips, holding back her laugh.
Tempting.
"No comment on that."
I averted my fixation from her lips.Get a hold of yourself.
A total asshole. Couldn't blame her for viewing me in such light. Most women do, it isn't news to me. And I intended to be seen that way. As long as it manage to fend them off, and make them understand my boundaries, I'm willing to become the biggest asshole there is.
But funnily enough, I never imagined that this method of mine would someday come back to bite me in the ass. To have her regard me as an odious character. Why, it's quite disheartening.
