Shyamla sat with a sad expression at home, while Lakshmi thought about the news she had heard. Lakshmi got worried when Shyamla didn't come to the lunch. So, she went to Shyamla's house to check on her. When Lakshmi arrived, she found Shyamla very upset, with a silver plate in front of her. After a lot of trying, Lakshmi finally got Shyamla to tell her what was wrong. But at first, Lakshmi didn't believe Shyamla's claim that Adhiraaj wanted to marry Ankita.
Slowly, remembering what the priest had said, Lakshmi started to think that Adhiraaj might really be like a demon. If so, it wouldn't be surprising if he wanted to marry Ankita. She and the others at the feast had looked at Adhiraaj doubtfully when the priest gave the blessed food to Ankita after giving it to him. At that moment, people were whispering among themselves.
Lakshmi was shocked that the priest's words came true so quickly that she couldn't believe it. She almost told Shyamla about the prediction in Ankita's horoscope but stopped, not wanting to worry Shyamla more. She tried to get Shyamla to eat something, but Shyamla was lost in her sadness.
As far as Lakshmi knew, Ankita was mostly with them. She always walked the same way from the temple to their living quarters, and the priest's sons always walked with her until she reached home. So, it was strange how and where Adhiraaj could have met Ankita for the first time. It seemed unlikely he would propose marriage without ever seeing her or knowing who she was.
"This marriage will ruin Kittu's life," Shyamla cried. "He will completely destroy her." Shyamla had been saying this for the past half hour.
"Kittu is still a child, didi. I think Saheb is not thinking clearly. Once he realizes this, he will take back the proposal himself. Don't worry," Lakshmi tried to comfort Shyamla for the past half hour, but it didn't seem to help because Shyamla wasn't listening.
"Adhi knows exactly what he's doing. He had everything planned in advance. He even set the wedding date," Shyamla finally said.
"Let Ved Saab return to the estate, because Saheb will listen to him. Ved Saab will definitely protect his sister from that monster, didi," Lakshmi said confidently.
"I hope that's true," Shyamla sighed, putting her head between her knees. She was very tired from all the things happening in their lives. Just when she thought things were getting better after her brother and his wife died, this marriage proposal messed everything up again.
Both Lakshmi and Shyamla jumped when the door suddenly swung open.
"They are here, Kittu," Pihu announced, looking into the house. Ankita sighed in relief and came inside, holding a disposable plate. She knelt in front of Shyamla and pushed the silver plate, not knowing what was on it. Then, she put the disposable plate with food in front of Shyamla.
"I was scared, bua. I waited a long time for you, hoping we could eat together. I was worried that something bad might have happened to you because of Saheb's actions. I was so worried that I didn't eat anything. I'm hungry now, bua, so can we eat?" Ankita gently pulled Shyamla's hand, but Shyamla quickly pulled her hand away.
Shyamla looked away from Ankita, trying to hide the tears on her face.
If Ankita saw her like this, she would have many questions. Right now, Shyamla couldn't answer any questions because she didn't have the answers. She couldn't tell Ankita that she had made her a target for Adhiraaj's desires.
Ankita begged, gently pulling her hand again.
But Shyamla suddenly pulled her hand away and forcefully pushed the girl, making her stumble. "I already said no, and that's final. I don't want to eat. Please leave me alone and let me be,"
Shyamla snapped at Ankita. Shyamla's sudden anger surprised everyone, including Ankita.
"Bua, can I ask what happened? Are you not feeling well?" Ankita asked gently, smoothing her clothes. But instead of an answer, she felt a sharp pain on her cheek. Her face turned to the side, and her lip burst. She could taste blood. Lakshmi and Pihu immediately went to Ankita to comfort her when they saw her crying uncontrollably.
