The day went by slowly and uneventfully. Darius was apparently playing a game of hide-and-seek with Y/n, and no matter how loud she screamed his name, he remained as elusive as a ghost.
"He's avoiding me," Y/n pouted, her lips forming a dramatic frown as she plopped down for lunch next to an inmate who looked like he'd seen better days.
The inmate stared at her curiously before scooting away, clearly afraid of the strange girl.
"It's okay, I won't bite," she assured him, giving him a warm smile. "I'm Y/n. What's your name?"
The inmate blinked and looked down at his food, ignoring her.
"I get it. You're shy," Y/n said, her smile never fading. "Well, nice meeting you, I guess."
The inmate shot her a confused frown but said nothing.
"I'll leave you alone, since you're so shy. I hope you have a good day!" Y/n said cheerfully, hopping out of her seat and walking over to the next table.
"Hi, my name is Y/n! What's yours?"
This went on for a while until one of the inmates, a short and scrawny looking guy finally responded to her.
"Why are you talking to me?"
"I'm bored. Darius won't come out and play," Y/n replied, her tone light and casual.
"Play? You're crazy. You should probably leave. No offense."
"None taken. But I'll talk to whoever I want."
"Look, I'm just trying to help. There's some weird rumors going around about you. People are saying that you're some kind of blood thirsty freak," the inmate explained, his voice filled with uncertainty.
"Really? A vampire?" Y/n laughed heartily at this absurd rumor. "That's ridiculous."
The inmate stared at her warily. "Yeah... I guess."
Y/n fidgeted from one foot to the other uneasily, wondering if she should start wearing garlic necklaces to dispel these rumors.
"Hey, is that Darius?" Y/n asked suddenly, her eyes lighting up as she spotted a familiar figure standing near the entrance of the cafeteria. Without a second thought, she rushed over to him, her feet barely touching the ground.
"Darius! What the heck are you doing here? I've been looking for you all day!"
Darius, however, seemed to be in his own world. He walked past her without uttering a single word, his gaze fixed straight ahead.
"Hey, wait! Where are you going?" Y/n called after him, her voice filled with confusion and a hint of hurt.
But Darius continued walking away, not even sparing her a glance. It was as if she was invisible to him.
"Rude. Is he mad at me?" Y/n muttered to herself, her brow furrowing in confusion. She wasn't used to being ignored, especially not by Darius.
With a determined look on her face, she chased after him. "Seriously, what's wrong with you? Why are you ignoring me?" she demanded, her voice rising with every step she took.
Darius stopped abruptly and turned to face her. His expression was cold and detached, a stark contrast to his usual friendly demeanor.
"Stay away from me," he hissed, his words cutting through the air like a knife.
Y/n froze in her tracks, taken aback by his sudden change in demeanor. She felt like she had been slapped in the face.
"What did I do?" she asked, her voice quiet and uncertain.
