You listen to the muttering from the hallway with a half-smile as you sit backwards on the king-size bed. You will just wait here for a moment, until Seokjin returns, and then make your way to the en-suite which suddenly feels miles away.
It has been a long, long day but the events has already started to blur: from being woken up by your sister at six-am, to the frantic, tear-inducing drama with the dress in the morning, and eventually the wedding itself, which you hope will eventually come back to you with clear, crisp clarity. You want to be able to relive those moments over and over again, until old age. If all of your other memories fade away, you want to hold onto that one.
Seokjin has been well and truly cornered in the corridor outside of the suite and you can not help but laugh quietly to yourself as the tipsy voices drift through the door. Taehyung and his girlfriend, you thought, who had disappeared earlier in the evening during the reception, but somehow had managed to get ahold of alcohol.
You can not quite make out what they are saying, but you can picture Jin's expression clearly in your mind: him nodding to their questions, perhaps taking sneaky glances at his watch, hoping they will get the message.
He is too polite sometimes, but you love that about him. It is a trait they share, and have you been a second too late in walking into the hotel room, you will undoubtedly still be standing at his side, nodding politely with him.
You look across the foot of the bed, past the shocking-light pink fabric of your dress which covered your legs, towards the bathroom. You don't remember laying down, but here you are. The bathroom feels further away than ever but at least, you think, you won't have to remove any makeup, having gone bare-faced throughout the ceremony and reception. You will brush your teeth and call it a day, in just a moment.
The voices on the other side of the door have started to quieten down, with longer pauses between words. You take this as a good sign. Eventually, you hear footsteps retreating back down the hall and breathed a sigh of relief.
A second later, the door opens and Seokjin steps sheepishly into the room. You can not help but giggle tiredly as he looks around the room, before settling on you form on top of the bedsheets. He has already loosened his tie, and he places it carefully along the back of the chair in the corner.
"I thought you'd never get away." You grin as his fingers move to undo the top button on his shirt.
He smiles tentatively. "Me too."
You watch as he looks around the room again, considering if he should take his clothes off, before deciding against it and slowly joining you on the bed. You reach out for him as you feel the mattress shift beneath his weight, though your movements seems unnaturally slow and lethargic. His are more confident, and he wraps his arms around your bare back, fingertips skimming beneath the fabric at the back of your dress and resting there.
His scent is warm, lightly woody with a clean, soft musk, and you tuck your head beneath his chin to inhale it more deeply. You feel his lips against your hairline as he tucks you closer, holding you to him.
"How were they?", you ask quietly, voice appropriately quiet, now you finally have him all to herself.
"Perhaps the free bar was a bad idea." He laughs softly, his breath warm against your skin.
You shrug lightly beneath him. "At least, everyone seemed to have fun."
He looks down at you, pulling away slightly to see your expression. "And did you have fun?"
You look up, shifting to meet his gaze. "Yes." Your lips curl in a smile. "It was everything I hoped for." Your chest feels warm and you move your hands down to his forearms, running along the crisp fabric until they meet his hands which you hold tightly. "What about you?"
His expression changes, softens, telling you all you need to know, and the warmth inside you seems to spread through your limbs, filling you with an emotion you know you will not be able to explain to anyone later, nor will want to.
You wonder if you have ever felt happier, more content, than you are right now. Closing your eyes, you feel Seokjin's lips touch your forehead before moving to your nose, kissing you lovingly.
Your lips meet and you kiss him back, using the last of your energy to pull him closer. You have bought lingerie for the evening, but it will go unworn. You feel your body relax into his, your limbs loosening as sleep begins to take you. His lips move back up your skin, pecking the corner of your mouth and cheek, before coming to a rest at your eyebrow.
"I love you."
You smile at his words, wanting to repeat them back to him, but realizing, too late, you are already asleep.
[A/n: So, how was it? 😋 I know you expected something else. But I like wedding night in this way, sleeping peacefully after the hectic events. I am sorry for that. But I promise you, next chapter will be on honeymoon, and I will publish the next two chapters together. Please, stick with me 🥺]
