Another chapter has arrived! This one was mainly written by Alisa and Kore I believe, but I may be wrong, and edited by me (Willow) and Kore, and some others. Saying that, it may have a different writing style than the previous chapter.
Anyways, enjoy!
---------------------
I watched as Lily left and heard Devika ask.
“Hey, are you up for another sparring session?”“Yeah, sure, are you ok with minor injuries or not..?” I asked hesitantly.
“That’s fine, but the winner gets a drachma.” She replied.
I nodded as I answered back.
“Sure, I don’t mind a tiny bet.”And with that it was settled. We would spar and the winner would get one drachma. Which seemed reasonable to me, so we continued on with the round of sparring.
We both got into a fighting stance, she drew an arrow, and for me, my katana.
We counted down in unison,
“Three.”“Two.”
“ONE!”
We both charged at each other, me with my katana and her with her arrows, one in each hand. I lunged forward and she slashed back with one of her arrows, they clashed together, which made me realize how strong her arrows were. I pulled back and raised my sword, bringing lightning with it, and slashed downward onto her arrow, which surprisingly broke.
She jumped backwards to recover from the attack, however I wasn’t going to let up just because I broke one of her arrows. I know that she’ll pull something if I’m not careful. So I decided to also jump back anticipating her attack, however she didn’t move so we were just standing there with quite a distance between us.
She didn’t attack.
If I wait any longer she might figure a good plan out.
She is forcing me to attack.
So I charged towards her with full force.
My goal is to shrink the large gap between us, forcing her into close combat so she can’t use her stupid bow.I lunge at her, and she manages to block with one of her arrows. I quickly brought my sword to my lower right to try to slash up towards my upper left towards her. Devika leaned to avoid the slash and now, in an almost crouching position, pulls out her bow. She jumps back to try to take a decent shot, but I wasn’t going to let that happen or I was basically kind of screwed.
So as she was about to take her shot, I made the sound of a thunder clap.
Ideally I would have liked it if I could make it so her bow didn’t even fire, but I had to settle for the hope that the loud sound would throw off her aim and result in her missing.
But I wasn’t going to wait around and see where the arrow would hit as I made a bolt for her right side.I heard a loud thump behind me, before I could even start my bolt.
It had barely missed me but had hit my katana, the snake on said arrow started wrapping around it and it snapped.“Yes! I’ve been waiting for this for a while now, I always needed a way to get rid of this thing!” I thought before pulling out my throwing knives.
I started running to her right side.I was really happy she didn’t use an owl, since her bow could shoot snakes or owls. I was betting on it shooting a snake so the owl didn’t chase me while I went to her right side.
After having successfully flanked Devika I went in to do a light paralyze on her and finish the battle, but she always has a plan and waited till I got close and quickly, using her small arrow, managed to knock three of my knives out of the air as she looked at me holding her bow, arrow loaded.
“I think I win.”
“Gods, it's funny thinking that with a good plan you can defeat someone several times stronger than you.”
“Are you saying I'm weak?” She asked in a threatening tone.
“No, I'm just saying you don’t have a lot of skills that enable you to attack.”
I wanted to end this conversation before she spun it in her favor and handed her a drachma.
“We should probably go to the dining pavilion,” I said.
“Yeah, I'm just going to go check up on my cabin and I’ll be there.” She answered.
“Ok. I was going to go have a small meet up with the Poseidon Hades counselors.”
“Also, quick question. How's Kayla doing?” She asked, curiously.
“Ah- um. She’s fine. Might make it for capture the flag tomorrow, but honestly I'm not sure. She got hurt pretty bad. Last time I saw her though she was fast asleep.” I answered.
“We're going to be pretty short on people, guessing that Hannah, Kayla, and Corabel can’t play… Anyways, gotta go! You have fun with your meeting.” Devika answered with a nasty smirk on her face as she chuckled a bit.
“Yeah. I will totally have fun.” I said sarcastically.
“Bye!” We waved at each other.
I then walked over to Cabin 3: Poseidon’s Cabin.I knocked and for the first time in a long time I saw Johannah answer the door.
“Wow, you’re not paying somebody?”
“Nope, wouldn’t help anyways since I'm just inside. I just do that usually when I go out so people don’t annoy me.” She answered.
“Anyways, come in.”
I entered the cabin, which had blue stone like walls with seashells scattered all over said walls. Shockingly Corabel was already there with Johannah.
“Didn’t forget to come corpse breath?” I said teasing her.
“Shut up. But Hannah reminded me to come.” She responded.
Johannah couldn’t stop laughing.
“CORPSE BREATH!” Johannah said, out of breath from laughing.
“Ok let's get back on track, so Capture the Flag. What in the gods are we going to do? We’ve lost quite a few players, not only Kayla, Hannah and you Corabel, but also a good bit of people got injured this week, making them unable to participate."I said, trying to redirect the conversation back to what we needed to do, mostly just talk but also to find possible solutions to some issues in camp. It's like a past time, with two psychos.
We ended up with the blue team being Poseidon, Athena, Apollo, Hermes, and possibly Hades if they could play, the red team consisting of Ares, Zeus, Hephaestus, Demeter, Aphrodite, and Dionysus.
"Speaking of Hannah and Kayla, how are those two doing?” Johannah asked.
“I’m not sure, I haven’t checked on the two of them in a while,” Corabel said before adding,
“-But Hannah left the infirmary around 30 minutes after Carter left to go do- whatever he does, and Kayla was still asleep when I left with them, so she should be fine.”“I’ll go check on Kayla after this, or after dinner, I’m not sure if I have the time.” I thought out loud.
“Well if we’re done here, I’m going to go back to Cabin 13 and check on Hannah, maybe see if they are willing to go eat dinner at the pavilion” Corabel said, before she Shadow Traveled out of the cabin.
Johannah gave a good look at me and said, “Get out.”
I proceeded to not get out as we chatted for a bit before I decided to leave to go check on Kayla.
