Today was the day. Ryder turns 11 years old today. Ryder rose out of his bed and stretched his arms out as he let out a big yawn. He then went to the kitchen and pulled out a bowl and his favorite cereal. As he ate, he thought about how he would spend his day. The pups were down on the first floor getting ready for the party by bringing out gifts out of the closet and placing them on the table.
An hour had passed and the pups were ready to start the celebration as Ryder was now taking a seat at the table. The pups sang to him and the eleven-year-old blew out his candles. The pups clapped and cheered. Ryder was handed his presents shortly after. Marshall gave the first, then Skye, then Rubble, then Zuma, and Chase would be last. When Ryder received Zuma's gift, he was baffled.
It was an umbrella that had no canopy and the shaft was all that was left of it. The eleven-year-old kid pressed the button on the handle and the shaft extended into the air.
"Sowwy, dude. It was all I could find." Zuma said, looking down in shame.
Ryder smiled at his pup and placed a hand on his back in reassurance. "I love it, Zuma."
The chocolate lab looked up at his owner and smiled back.
Now seeing it was his turn, Chase got the tickets ready as Ryder turned to him.
"What did you get me, Chase?"
The German Shepherd put on a happy expression as he spoke.
"I'm sure we all know how much you love the Banana Splits, right guys?"
The other pups nodded.
"So, with that said, we're going to see the Banana Splits." The German Shepherd said, pulling out the tickets and placing them on the table.
Ryder couldn't believe his eyes and pulled Chase into a big hug and the German Shepherd hugged back.
"You're the best pup a kid can ask for."
After Ryder let go of Chase, he counted the tickets.
"Eight tickets?"
"I bought an extra one if Everest wanted to go."
The eleven-year-old smiled at Chase's intentions on bringing the Siberian Husky with them.
"I'll give her and Jake a call later today."
It was two hours later before Ryder made the call.
"Hey, Jake, I was wondering if Everest could come with us to see the Banana Splits live?"
Jake gave an ambivalent smile. "Oh, sorry, Ryder. Everest can't go. She's fallen ill."
Jake then pointed his phone to a sick Everest sitting on a bean bag chair, wrapped in a warm blanket with her water bowl in front of her. Ryder felt sorry for the Siberian Husky.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Tell her we hope she gets better." Ryder said before ending the call.
Ryder then turned to his pups. "Sorry, pups, but Everest can't go with us. Jake told me she's sick."
The pups were disappointed.
"Maybe we could ask someone else we know that happens to watch the show?" Rocky suggested.
Ryder put his hand to his chin and thought about it. "It's worth a try."
Ryder then went to his room and phoned Carlos, the other ten-year-old who lives in the jungle.
"Hey, Ryder, what's up?" The jungle explorer said on the other line.
"Hey, Carlos, we were wondering if you wanted to see a favorite show of mine live for my birthday."
"Well, happy birthday! Sorry, but I can't."
"Could Tracker go?"
"He'd love to! I'll send him right over!"
"Thanks!"
Ryder then ended the call and came out of his room.
"Good news, pups: we have someone who will join us in our birthday celebration!"
The pups cheered and howled in excitement. "Who is it, Ryder?" They asked.
"He'll be here shortly."
Several minutes had passed and they would soon get their answer on who it was.
"Tracker!" They exclaimed.
The Chihuahua hopped out of his jeep and entered the lookout. "Hola, amigos! Happy Birthday, Ryder! I heard we were going somewhere special."
"That's right, Tracker, and I hope you don't mind going."
"No hay Problema, where are we going?" The chihuahua asked excitedly.
The Chihuahua's excitement soon faded once he read the ticket to see the Banana Splits live.
"Oh, that show..." Tracker's voice trailed off.
"Is something wrong, Tracker?" Ryder asked.
"Not at all, it's just that the characters give the arrastra."
"The what?" Marshall asked, not getting what the chihuahua meant.
"The arastra, the creeps."
"You're not alone on that part." Rocky agreed
"It doesn't matter if they're creepy or not, we're going to give Ryder the best birthday present ever." Chase said, looking up at his owner.
"So, they're not going to keep us hostage and let us leave when we want to?"
"That's going a little overboard, but no." The Dalmatian answered.
"You're thinking about it too much." Rocky concurred.
"You'we pwobably pawanoid." The Chocolate Labrador joined in.
Tracker shared unsure glances at his teammates but trusted them. "Okay, I'll try not to think much about it."
Although the group didn't take Tracker's thought into consideration, they did have their own little misconception on the show's character's background before. They couldn't think too much about it since they were ready to board the PAW Patroller. The pups let out one more howl before leaving for Taft Studios.
On the way there, Tracker began to have an intuition about what would happen once they got there. Are the animatronics really harmless as they seem? Do they do certain acts that no one sees behind the camera? Would they let them leave right away once the show was after? Nobody seemed to notice the Chihuahua getting trapped in his own head.
Tracker tried to escape from the thoughts by speaking to the pup next to him about other topics. But no matter how much he ran his maw, he couldn't shake the fear of actually experiencing the animatronics up close and what they had in stock.
