"Hi. Wow everyone looks great tonight and I honestly feel threatened at my own event, damn ya'll didn't come to play."

Sooyoung started her speech and everyone was already laughing their asses off, she's effortlessly funny. She went to carry own but her focus shifted towards the other end of the room where San had just taken his seat. I should've payed attention to the slight shift in her expression but being the dummy I am, I focused on San, like the rest of the room. I almost gagged at the looks the girls on his table gave him. They were drooling over him so openly, I was for some reason so irritated that I wanted to hide him from them. I was brought out of my thoughts by Sooyoung continuing with her speech.

"— and this year it's gonna be a bit different. I'm auctioning a few exclusive pieces of mine, right here. I've been talking too much, let me bring the man of the night to the stage and let him take over. Please welcome the one and only Kim Hongjoong."

Polite applause rounded the room and father stood up and bowed politely. My father was vertically challenged compared to his friends but the power he held was undeniable. Right now he silently demanded respect without uttering a word, just his body language was enough. He got to the front and gave his speech. I would be lying if I said I paid attention to his speech. My mind was occupied with San. What was he doing here? Did he come with his parents? I mean this is a rich people event so surely they are here too. But where are they? I looked at him and found him already staring at me. I was startled and averted my eyes and tried to keep myself busy. How long has he been looking at me like that?? I looked up again and he was still looking at me, with a glass that had just about a quarter of wine left. This time I looked away due to embarrassment and caught the last of dad's speech.

Again the room erupted in polite applause as he went to sit down. Appa being the supportive husband he is, did a mini clap for him when he finally sat down and pecked his cheek. Sooyoung then went back to the front.

"A handsome, rich and well spoken man? Kim Seonghwa, you're one lucky man. Yes thank you, I'm not all that but I'm funny and maybe that's why Hyerin married me. Right honey?"

The whole room laughed at Hyerin's 'I'm so done with you' face. Sooyoung was effortlessly funny and had this sparkling aura around her.

"Oh you're too kind, thank you. I know I got some wits too and I know you're gonna love it. We're getting served in a few minutes, polish those table manners and eat until you can't. A full belly means an easy hand. That's why the auction is after the serving. Now I'm funny and smart, Hyerin you're one lucky woman baby."

Everyone erupted into laughter once again when Sooyoung winked at Hyerin and the latter flushed pink.

"Thank you everyone. Please do enjoy the food and mingle so there's less tension when it's time to buy."

Gosh I love this woman. I feel like we would be the best of friends if we hung out, she's funny and knows how to get that bag. Waiters came in each pushing a trolley for every table. In my peripheral vision I saw both San and Sooyoung walking together and having a conversation that looked very serious. Do they know each other? I wouldn't be surprised, rich people things. While we were eating, I brought the auction topic.

"So are you guys gonna get anything?"

I mainly asked for myself. I wanted something, maybe a bag or a pair of pants.
