Genlocke Alderwood attempted to join a competition where he had to style certain garments. During the event, he was one of the three designers who were chosen to compete in the last round. He never expected to get such a chance; the only reason he joined was because his mom wanted him to showcase his talent.
Then he began to feel nervous. He was a middle schooler; growing up, he's always been timid, and joining such an event was his biggest fear. He was worried about people's side comments.
The hosts announced that the final showdown would happen after lunch, so he still had time to calm himself. Without letting his mom know, he went somewhere. He found himself in a peaceful restaurant.
He was very thankful because there were few people in the place, which somehow relieved his stress. Gene then chose a table on the balcony, enjoying the view and the touch of the air.
While waiting for his meal, he began to mumble things that worried him. It was actually so loud that the sleeping guy behind him woke up.
Then, after he let out a deep sigh, someone patted his shoulder, which startled his existence. The guy was wearing a white cap and a face mask covering his face, looking completely mysterious.
The guy then reached for something from his pocket and held Gene's shaky hand; he then put the thing on his palm.
"Everything will be okay, getting nervous is normal. I'll let you keep this, it will help you, hopefully."
The concerned guy said. He even held Gene's head and rubbed it like a brother would do to his younger sibling. It was as if he tried to comfort a lost soul.
He then brought his things and immediately left. When he was turning his back on Gene, he removed his mask, and Gene somehow caught a glimpse of his lips. Gene was still in shock. When he felt his eyes were uncomfortable, he blinked and went back to his senses.
He was dumbfounded and just stared at the thing on his hand like the world had stopped spinning.
Several years later, Genlocke did not only wish to become a successful fashion designer but also to meet the person he has been searching for all his life.
