CHAPTER 4

Sometimes, we can't stop ourselves from admiring someone we suddenly meet out of nowhere. Love really is mysterious, and Gene still thinks he'll meet that guy someday.

"It's very time-consuming, but look at me. I'm still hoping I could get a glimpse of your face. Where do I find you?"

Gene sighed with his own thoughts, still thinking of the owner of the amulet he's wearing. He's staring at it, rubbing it like an immortal beast.

"Who are you talking to?" Suddenly, Jax arrived.

"This one"

"That...necklace?" Jax reacted curiously.

"You wouldn't understand even if I told you." Gene had something inside his mind-a silly thought.

"I think I heard this line before, anyway, go ahead! Tell me."

"Actually, I'm not from your planet, I came here for a mission"

Gene told him in the most persuasive way. Jax's eyes zoomed out in shock, not knowing Gene's silly joke.

"Really? Then...do you have superpowers?"

"Of course, it comes from this amulet that I'm holding."

"Can you show me!?"

"Yeah, but please keep this a secret for now, okay?"

"Yes, master!" He gave him a salute.

"Are you ready?"

Jax nodded excitedly; his innocence is something Gene couldn't resist. Suddenly, he flicked his forehead and giggled.

"Hey! What's that for!?"

"Do you really believe that? Gosh!"

"What? It wasn't true?"

"I never thought you'd be this gullible."

"I'm doomed! I thought I'd be rich now"

Jax jokingly added. Gene gave him a piercing look.

"I'm just kidding," he said, immediately taking it back.

"Someone gave this to me when I was young. So many good things happened to me after he gave it to me, so I am really hoping to see him."

"Wow! I admire you, Gene, so... you want to meet him to say thank you?"

"That's just one of the things I want to say to him. There is more than just expressing my gratitude. After all, he gave me the courage to overcome the challenges I've been through."

"But the world is vast, do you have any clues on where to find him?"

Gene sighed heavily and shook his head.

"I really wish I could've at least asked for his name, but I was so young to trust a stranger at that time," Gene reminisced, recalling how he remained silent for 30 minutes after the guy left.

"That's sad, you guys were so young, and we don't know if he lives offshore now or perhaps he's not here. I mean, this is just a possibility. I'm not saying it's the truth, you know what I mean?"

"I get your point, but there's only one thing that I have hopes for."

"What is it?"
