When I claimed her, that was it. I made her mine and betrayed her. She longed for a story that wasn't mine to narrate, so I did the only thing a man like me would-I sent her back. Little did I know the secret she was keeping. The worst of all...

"What the fuck happened here?" I growled, looking at the destroyed restaurant I visited two nights ago. Someone blew it off. I could see that, but who the fuck kept blowing my shit up? "How many people are dead?"
"One. The explosives were behind the door, and when Mr Gould opened it, everything went in flames."
"The security cameras?"
"Burned. I can't retrieve the memory." Marco paced back and forth with his hand inside his pockets.
"These?" I pointed my head at the three cameras planted inside the lamp posts. I placed them here after that "robbery" under Petrov's watch. No one knew about them but Marco as he put them there.
"I haven't had the chance. The police should arrive to receive a statement." I never gave those because I'd get angry doing so. I'm already fucking pissed off. They're just here to collect a statement and twist it around about the mob having nothing to do with it.
"This looks linked to the previous shit at the docks." Dmitri walked with his cane and cigar in his hand. "No?"
"It is," I answered. I could use a drink now. That was the fucking thing with people; they surrounded this place like flies attracted to faeces. They don't know if someone in the crowd is hiding a gun ready to fire rounds and call it a fucking day. That's people, not me. I know whoever is responsible has long disappeared.
"May I add a few cents?"
"You don't have to ask to say something." I saw Alexei leaning over his car and his fiance smoking a cigarette.
Their wedding would be in two weeks, and I'm surprised they haven't sliced each other's throats. He whispered something to Genji, and she laughed. His jaw clenched, and I knew these two were far from accepting this arranged marriage.
"I thought you'd kill Dominik and Igor." My eyes snapped to Dmitri.
"Elaborate." The police arrived, and Marco stepped forward to do the honours. I just wanted to get my gun and shoot every phone in the air.
Dmitri shrugged. "I knew your father better than any man in the brotherhood. I knew he was problematic, and you hated him for it." He stubs his cigar on his signet ring and puts it away in a case. "I may not have agreed with what he did, and he turned his back on me. Igor and Dominik were his muses."
"You're talking about them being at his beck and call?" Dmitri nodded. I knew I should have killed these fuckers. I'll start with Dominik and my money. "And Petrov and Akim?" He laughed.
"All talk and no bite. Akim and Petrov just wanted to be in your father's good graces to up their position. Like fools, of course, that got them nowhere. They won't try to sabotage you either."
"Grigor?" I asked.
"The same thing. Grigor listened to Fyodor like he was a god. I know about the night at the docks, where my boy left with a broken leg." He laughs. "You lied for him to save his ass. Even that didn't save him."
