–October 31st 1981 Godric’s Hall–

The Dark Lord Voldemort made his way down the path of the Potter's cottage in Godric's Hollow, now clearly visible to him thanks to his spy Peter Petigrew. There were no security measures beyond the basic Fidelius and he could only scoff at their stupidity: they were in the middle of a war after all. James Potter was sitting in a chair just inside the front door when Voldemort blasted it open and the fool didn't even have his wand to hand. "If only I could kill him," Voldemort thought to himself as James yelled at Lily to run upstairs. Alas, he was a man of his word and had promised Severus that he would spare Lily Potter. While that didn't necessarily mean James was exempt, Voldemort knew that only sparing Severus's friend would cast suspicions on his spy so it would be safest to keep them both alive.

"Stupefy!" Voldemort yelled, knocking out the unarmed man, shaking off the strange feeling of using the unfamiliar curse and following Lily up the stairs.

So Lord Voldemort made his way upstairs searching room to room until he found the one he was looking for inside was the matriarch of the family along with 2 cribs containing the Potter twins Harry, & Julius Potter, one of these two could be the one prophesied to defeat me, or that Longbottom child. Sending a quick Stupefy to Lily Potter to put her to sleep for a while Lord Voldemort makes his way to the cribs & notices the details carved into them

It was hard to find the nursery although he was a little surprised to see two cots inside. Sending a quick stupefy at the distraught mother, Voldemort wandered over to inspect the children. One of these two was prophesied to defeat him, or the Longbottom boy, although Voldemort had serious doubts about that one.

On the right side of the room was a Maple cot with frolicking animals carved along the side, specially a stag, a Grimm, a wolf and a rat. There was also a sun carved at the head of the with the name Julius carved around it. Voldemort looked inside at the brawling child. There didn't seem anything particularly special about him but then, Voldemort had rarely had time for very small children and usually for good reason. The child had unruly brown hair and dark green eyes and was currently screaming loud enough to put a banshee to shame. It was beyond annoying and Voldemort had no problem casting stupefy on the child, if only to stop that infernal crying.

Now that he had peace and quiet again, Voldemort walked over to the other cot, this one made out of Chestnut wood with almost the same carvings except there was a crescent moon instead of a sun with the name Harry carved around it. Voldemort looked down at the child and was a little surprised to find a pair of Avada Kedavra eyes staring back at him. This child looked a little smaller than the other one and had black hair instead of brown. It wasn't crying though, despite the Dark Lord's altered appearance thanks to all of the dark magic he had been using recently. Instead it just stared at him curiously, as if trying to determine whether he was friend or foe. It was that lack of fear that made Voldemort sure that this was the child destined to defeat him, not that it would matter after today.

"Avada Kedavra!" Voldemort yelled.

Instead of the spell hitting and killing the child, a barrier formed around the child, reflecting the curse back at Voldemort and destroying his body. The force of the curse dislodged a piece of the Dark Lord's already fractured soul which entered the child, leaving a small mark beneath his hairline. Voldemort's wand also went flying, hitting the other twin in the face. The residual magic in the wand left a jagged scar over the boy's right eye, deep enough to scar but not blind the boy.

Dumbledore arrived an hour later fully expecting to find James and Lily dead and was surprised when he realized they were only unconscious. He revived James and the pair rushed to the nursery to find an unconscious Lily, two sleeping babies and a pile of ash. James went to revive Lily as Dumbledore checked on the twins to see if there are any clues as to what might have happened. Harry is sleeping peacefully with no visible scars from the incident so Dumbledore turned to Julius only to find the child curled up around the Dark Lord's Yew wand, sobbing away, the new scar over his eye bleeding slightly. A quick scan of the area reveals traces of dark magic in the wound which piqued Dumbledore's curiosity.
