Putting Walls Up

Unlike Caitlin who wanted to be with her closest friends after the breakup, Katie wanted to be left completely alone. She ignored Caitlin's texts. She ignored texts from her family. She ignored texts from her teammates. Unless Ruesha had started telling people they broke up, no one had known so they all just thought that she was busy prepping for the upcoming friendly in a few days.  And in fact she was. That was the only thing that would get her out of bed. Wake up. Work out for an hour or so in order to stay in shape for the game. Back to bed. Katie couldn't remember the last time she had cried so much. And what made it worse was knowing she would have to see Ruesha in about 3 days.
The day before the Ireland game Caitlin tried to ring her friend again and was once again met with a call going to voicemail. By this point she knew something was wrong, but couldn't do anything about it because she was still in Australia for a few more days. She decided on messaging one of Katie's older sisters on Instagram. She knew Katie would be pissed when she found out but didn't care.
11:14: Hey I know this may be for nothing, but Katie has completely ignored my calls in texts for a couple days now. I just wanted to make sure she was okay and I'm out of the country right now so I can't check on her.

11:17: Hey Caitlin! Thanks for reaching out. She's been ignoring me too, but I thought it was just due to the game or something. I'll call Ruesha since she won't answer me.
11:19: uh well Ruesha ignored my first call and then answered the second one with "I don't have to answer your calls anymore. Katie isn't my responsibility anymore."  And then hung up.

11:19: Did they breakup??

11:20: I don't know. Do you know anyone else in London right now that could go check on her?

11:21: I'll call Jordan and see if she can.

"Hey Cait, how's Australia?"
"Good good hey I got a favor to ask . Katie has been ignoring mine and her families texts for days. According to her sister when she spoke to Rue it sounds like they might have broken up. Can you go to Katie's? "
"Oh shit. I'll head over right now and keep ya updated."
"Thanks Jordan"

Jordan knocked on Katie's door multiple times with no answer, but she knew she was inside because her car was here.
She tried the door code and guessed her birthday as the code. Wrong. Rueshas birthday. Wrong. Then she tried 1115. For 11 and 15 Katie's two favorite numbers. Bingo. 
She opened the door to take out boxes all over the place. Making her way upstairs she heard the faint noise of a tv.
"Katie I'm coming upstairs I know you heard the knocking"
She finally found a teary eyed Katie laying on her pillow not looking up at Jordan.
"How did you figure out the code?"
"You're not hard to understand McCabe"
No sassy comeback. Uh oh. She must be heartbroken.
"So you wanna tell me why you're sulking in bed and ignoring everyone's text messages."
"No"
"Does it have anything to do with Ruesha?"
No response.
Jordan tried to go hug Katie but her hard head was getting in the way. Katie immediately pushed Jordan back. "Please leave"
"Come on. Just get up please. Get in the shower. I'll get some food for you clean up the place a bit and we can talk. I'm here for you Katie. You got a game tomorrow let's get you ready for that."
"Jordan there is nothing you can say right now to get me out of this bed."
"Fine but I know someone who can"

"How is she?"
"Not good Caitlin. She won't listen to me. Can you try to talk some sense into her. She won't get out of bed"
"Sure put me on speaker."

Hey Kates
...
Katie I know you can hear me. I don't know what happened between you and Ruesha, but both Jordan and I are here for you when you are ready to talk. But right now you need to get out of bed please. Go clean yourself up. Get some spag bol in before your game tomorrow. You are the Irish captain, you go get in the right mindset to led your team to victory tomorrow. If that means staying up all night sharing your feelings then that's what we will do. If you want to shut it all in now fine. But I'm forcing you to talk when I get home. Now get your ass out of bed. For your team. For Jordan. For me. We all want what's best for you and that's not wallowing in self pity right now.

Whatever Caitlin. Katie May have responded sarcastically, but got up shoved her way past Jordan and got in the shower.

"Well she might hate both of us rn, but she's in the shower. Good job Caitlin"
"She's not in a good place is she?"
"No but I'm going to stay here and help her."
"Thanks Jordan. I'll let her sister know."

1:21: Hey so it looks like they did breakup. Katie was apparently crying in bed for the past couple of days. Jordan is with her and going to help her and get her ready for tomorrow.

1:22: ugh thanks for checking on her. Ever since she was little Katie has been the worst at shoving her feelings in until she breaks down. This is going to be a painful one for her. I'll try to call her again.

1:23 we will get her through this :) she got me through my breakup.
