Lets Make it Official

It had been a few months since the two officially became girlfriends. They had both agreed that they didn't want to post anything about it on social media for a while even thought they knew a lot of fans already suspected it. During these past months Katie and Caitlin weren't exactly hiding they were in relationship, just not posting anything about it. However there were still tons of comments and posts from people talking about the two girls. A combination of both cute and kind things, but also some pretty hurtful stuff as well. Specifically targeted at Caitlin.
At first both girls were able to move past it. Saying this will past soon, but weeks past and the hurtful comments still came. Katie started to notice small things at first that Caitlin would do differently. Like wouldn't walk out of the tunnel at the same time because she knew the cameras would be on them. Or sit in a different part of the bus so no social media would catch them sitting together. At home they were totally fine. So incredibly in love, but in public it was back to like they were just normal friends.
The last straw for Katie came when she got home from the store to find Caitlin balling her eyes out with a chain of insta comments pulled up on her phone.
"Caitlin baby why are you reading those?" Katie tried to lean in to hug her, but Caitlin pushed her back.
"Are you sure we should keep doing this?"
"Keep doing this? What do you mean?"
"Us."
"Caitlin where is this coming from? I love you."
Caitlin looked down at her feet. "I think they are right Katie. You deserve someone better. I'm holding you back. I think we should end this. You deserve the world."
Caitlin was basically checking on her words with how hard she was crying.
"Look at me right now Caitlin Foord. We aren't breaking up. We love each other too much. You are my perfect for me. You are my everything. God we have only dated for a few months but I can't imagine my life without you. You're it for me. Don't let someone behind a computer screen convince you of anything else. Not stop being an idiot and give me hug."
Caitlin finally leaned into Katie and they both cried together.
"I didn't want to actually break up. I love you too. I just have spent so much time reading these comments that they've convinced me I'm not good enough for you."
"They couldn't be more wrong. I don't think I've ever been as happy as you make me Cait."
"You make me really happy too"
"What do you think of going public? Maybe it would shut some people up. You don't have to post if you don't want to. But I would love to show you off to the world."
"Are you sure?"
"So sure. As long as you are okay with it."
"Yeah I think I am"

Katie grabbed her phone and spent some time finding her favorite photos and decided on one of them at practice hugging, a picture from their first date, the night they became girlfriends, a picture of Caitlin sleeping on her chest, and then one of them kissing watching a sunset.
She made sure Caitlin approved of the pictures, but moved to their bedroom to write the caption because she wanted to surprise Caitlin with it.

The caption read
Surprise! (Or not a surprise to most of you) Caitlin Foord. Where do I begin? You are my girl. The girl who makes me the happiest. The girl who I go to bed dreaming about and is always the first thought on my mind in the morning. You have made these past months magical. I have wanted to show you off to the world for a while and I'm happy to finally announce it to the public. Caitlin Foord is my girl and I love her more than is imaginable.

Please respect us and be happy for us. We are normal people just like you all.

It felt like a weight was lifted when she clicked post. She got up to go downstairs only to see Caitlin crying again.
"Shit did you not like it? I can't delete it. I'm sure not too many people have seen."
"Katie. I loved it. I love you. That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me. I really don't deserve you."  Katie didn't have time to respond before Caitlin smashed her lips into her. Caitlin pulled away for a second and grabbed her phone.
"What are you doing?"
"I gotta comment on your post. Can't leave the people hanging can I?"

Katie, my beautiful darling. I love you so much. I have loved every second shared with you so far and can't wait for a million more. ❤️
But since we are insta official can I post the embarrassing video of you trying to do a handstand?

"Caitlin! Now everyone is going to want to see that and you know I told you to never show anyone."
"I know but we were being too sappy. I had to show people we are still the funny ones."
Katie just pouted in response and dropped her bottom lip out.
"I know a way I can make it up to you though" Caitlin said in a husky voice which instantly made Katie Change her facial expression. That was all Caitlin needed to see before picking Katie up over her shoulder and leading her right into the bedroom. Both leaving their phones in the living room blowing up with notifications. They didn't care what anyone was saying at this moment. They had each other.
