"So... we're still on for Valentine's Day, right?" Harry asks.
They've tangled themselves in the sheets of Louis' bed - again, and they had left their unfinished cribbage game to be forgotten again as well. Louis is spooning Harry, of course, and running his fingers through his hair.
He could get used to lazy days like these.
"Yeah... My wife would be really upset if we stood her up," Louis answers, running his fingertips across Harry's bicep, finding the goosebumps on it endearing. Harry bursts into a fit of giggles, and Louis can feel his body shaking with the giggles, and it makes him smile just a little more.
Yeah, he could get used to all of this.
"Harry?" Louis asks a while later. They've dragged themselves out of bed and into the shower, and have now impulsively decided to make cookies - Louis is once again pretending to help, as he sits on the counter eating spoonfuls of peanut butter.
Louis again wonders where the ingredeints and utensils came from.
"Hmm?" Harry asks, carefully measuring the oats that he apparently no longer trusts Louis with.
"What do you want? Like, if we're going to do this, where do you want it to go?" He asks, the same feeling Harry always gives him coming back. He's never been one to shy away, he's never been affected that way Harry affects him.
"Well... if we're going to do this, I want it to be serious, so I'd have ask you to split from your wife," Harry answers as he replaces the measuring cup in his hand to a spoon. Louis laughs lightly as he dips his spoon back in the peanut butter.
"Come on now, I'm being serious. How serious do you want this to be?" Louis asks.
"Put me on the spot then... I don't know. I mean, we're young, so I probably wouldn't aim for getting married and growing old together, especially so early into knowing each other but... you know..." Harry trails off, and Louis can tell he's not entirely comfortable with the topic. So he'll change it. Maybe. In a while.
"I think... Like, I know this is still kinda new and we're both young and all, but I can see it going somewhere," Louis says and waits for a reaction. He doesn't wait much, cause Harry immediately smiles.
"Really? Me too," he says back, still smiling as he mixes the cookies.
"I told my mum about you... She asked if I could bring you next time I visit," Louis admits. It's a little embarrassing, but he knows it could be worse. He also knows it won't, because he's not going into detail about what he told her.
"Oh? How much did you tell her about?" Harry asks. Okay, maybe Louis will give a little bit of detail. Only a little bit.
"All PG-13. I told her about you staying here during that storm, when we made cookies and built that snowman, and then I told her about visiting and meeting your friends for New Year's, and of course I told her about you helping plan Zayn's birthday and coming over for it, and I told her about the cake - she said you'll have to make her some - and-" Harry cuts him off with a sweet smile.
"So... everything except for sex and cribbage?" He asks and Louis feels his face heat up. He wasn't going to go into detail about what he told her, but talking to Harry is just so simple, he could go on for ages, he could tell Harry his whole life story and just watch his face the entire time.
"Um... yeah, pretty much." Louis feels a little less embarrassed when Harry lets out an easy laugh. His laugh is beautiful, which Louis is sure he thinks every time he's honored with hearing it.
"I told my mum about you too, she also said you'll have to visit. She also said that she's going to show you my baby pictures though, so I'll probably hold off on that visit," Harry giggles through his words and Louis loses his ability to speak.
So, they're actually doing this?
It's already been a month and half, and Louis still can't seem to get over the idea that Harry might actually want the same things as him. The idea that Harry might actually want him.
But Harry told his mum about him.
"Um... Speaking of talking to our mums..." Harry starts, his face growing serious as he turns back to the cookie dough, mixing it even though Louis is sure it's fully mixed by now. "I said something while I was talking to my mum, and I realized that it's not something we've talked about, so I wanted to ask you about it," he says, not taking his eyes off the cookies.
"Oh? Ask away," Louis encourages, while thinking to himself that Harry has a special way of building up to a question just to make someone nervous.
"Well, um, we were just talking, you know, and I, um, I..." Harry trails off and Louis swears he feels his insides eating him away.
"Mhmm?" Louis tries, not trusting himself to actually say words, and Harry takes a deep breath.
"And she asked if I was talking to anyone, you know, typical mums, can't wait to be a grandma, always wants to know if I'm seeing someone," Harry rambles, only glancing from the cookies to see that Louis is still listening before looking back.
"My mum and I started talking about you the same way. Seven of us, you'd think she's done with babies running around, but she still can't wait, says she's gonna move to London just to babysit," Louis says, earning a small laugh from Harry, "continue though, I'm still waiting for a question."
"Well, I like... I said something? And I uh... I don't know if it's something that you're comfortable with me saying about you, you know?" Harry talks a little bit faster, but Louis is still itching for him to just ask.
"Harry, what is your question?"
"Is it okay with you if I call you my boyfriend?"
