The Dalek conundrum
He sits there, still as a corpse. Staring at the mess surrounding him. The mess he made. It was all over but not in the way he anticipated.
It was a snowy Christmas night in the tardis, Billie and the doctor were planning their next adventure when the tardis started making an unusual noise.
“This hasn't happened before” the doctor exclaimed with a harsh confused tone. Billie looked at the doctor with a concerned look washing over her usually smiley face.
“What's wrong, doctor? Is everything okay?” she asked. The doctor looked over to Billie, standing in the middle of the console control room. He shook his head slowly. Billie's eyes began to dart towards each part of the tardis hurriedly. All of a Sudden, they felt the tardis land.
“Doctor, If you didn't land the tardis, then who did?” Billie asked, staring at the untouched centre console.
The sound was almost as if it was a fire engine racing through the streets to its next victim.
“Whatever it means it can't be good,” the doctor muttered to himself. Billies sat down on the floor,
“What do we do, doctor……” she stuttered. The doctor gave a quick but reassuring smile to Billie,
“We wait it out,” He replied, breaking the silence.
“The tardis is currently in self lockdown so we can’t get out, but that also means no one from the outside can get in, that means we're trapped in here until the tardis decides she's ready to sort herself out.” Billie glances at the doctor with the mention of the tardis being in a “mood”. The doctor notices the girl's change in expression and begins explaining the mechanics of the tardis. “Don't look so……so confused. The tardis isn't just a time travel machine. Well I mean it is, but, that doesn't matter, anyway. The tardis is alive, in a way, but to get the tardis to travel, you have to negotiate with it, if it doesn't agree it will, well it will,”The doctor looks up trying to think of the words in the most humanly way possible. “I'm not good at this, all these…...human words” he exclaims, a slight chuckle to his tone. Billie closed her eyes and started to laugh alongside the doctor.
After a long few hours of dull nothingness, the doctor shoots up from his chair.
“Of course. Of course stupid doctor” the doctor mumbles through his teeth. Billie looks over to the doctor waiting for what he has to say.
“The chameleon circuit is in lockdown but the heart is still running. All we have to do is reboot the console and it should open the doors for us with the protective shield still being perfectly intact. That way we can see what we are really dealing with, without damaging the tardis or you” the doctor looked over at Billie, a soft look in his chocolate eyes.
“You do know i didn't understand one word of that, doctor.'' Billie chuckled to herself. The doctor looked over at her, nodding his head at a leisurely pace. He looked down at his feet and let out a soft smile.
“Right then, lets get to work.” and with that the doctor began to work on the tardis, he had no idea how long it would take but he needed to see what he was about to walk into. He was trying his hardest to put on a brave face for Billie, however he could see that she was starting to see through his emotions. He couldn't let Billie know that if the tardis goes somewhere on its own behalf, it means that wherever it is, it needs the doctor's help more than anything. And that could be dangerous. Deadly even. He was risking it all. He knew he had to do this but at what cost?
“You okay doctor?” Billie asked with a worried tone.
“I'm always okay. I'm the doctor, I'm the king of okay.” the doctor replied. Billie raised an eyebrow in the doctor's direction. He could tell she wasn't believing him but he couldnt let his emotions get the better of him, it would just make everything more complicated. The doctor hurriedly got back to work as Billie gently sat down on the only chair in the tardis. She started humming a song full tune to herself.
