"Hostage situation, reckless kid, and soon-to-be hero in Musutafu!"

The article read. Etsumi sighed, her eyes scanning the turn of events as she stood upright in her bus. Music from her earphones drowned out the other student's chatter. Her mind was fogged with upcoming exams, so she couldn't quite focus her attention on one thing, nor understand what she was reading.

She made points however of the following:

A young man, in middle school, probably her age it seemed, got himself held hostage by some slimy sludge villain. He fought his way through heroically, becoming quite the sensation and frankly the symbol of bravery. Later he gets rescued by the symbol of peace himself. The boy was quite inspiring. Not to her, but to other kids his age who hoped to one day become pro heroes.

Despite her lack of attention towards anything in her way. Jin-Zhou did not miss her stop.

She scrolled past messages and songs playing in her head. Midterm week was coming up soon, and yet she didn't know what school to apply for. Many of her classmates were going to apply for hero schools. After all, it was the most sought-after profession, nevertheless, it didn't feel like her perfectly well-arranged plan.

"Did you see the article?" Kanehama said, trotting beside her in the hallway. A pep in her step as she leaned down, lively as ever. She was talking about the sludge monster attack. Holding her smartphone up in Etsumi's face. "It doesn't really hit you that villains exist until they attack you, or your family. No?" She seemed excited about such an unfortunate event. Picking at the articles and scowling at them she continued "Did you know? The kid's got quite the ego too. His whole interview was him turning away pro heroes and commenting how he's gonna become a pro all on his own. Half of it had to get censored out though, he's pretty vulgar—" she mumbled pulling up the news outlet in which he was featured. Blonde head of hair, blurred face.

"If I was him I'd totally turn down the offer too, but still."

"Hm? You wouldn't want to become a pro?"

"I do. But if I'm turning down my own blood I wouldn't want to take up on anyone else's offer, you know?" Etsumi remembered of Setten*. The newfound teleportation pro was now making waves in the industry. A fresh, handsome face welcomed in their society, an idol with the ability to teleport himself through space. Seemingly also catches the hearts of his supposed fans.

He was also known to Etsumi as the older Kanehama sibling.

Despite Kanehama's rambling, Jin-Zhou herself couldn't help but daydream at the idea of becoming a pro herself. Up in the lights on every bullet board, making a difference. It fit her kind-hearted nature and need for attention, she would be fulfilled, if it was not in her life's path. She lacked motivation and desire. To her, it was only a dream. Because well, to be a hero you needed a quirk. One that you could use at least and Polimer-goo was out of the question. Expecting a few more headstrong nightmares that woke her up in the dark mass and the mandatory quirk check-ups at the hospital she has never really touched upon her ability to manipulate the strange substance. Never having a reason to experiment with it, and feeling the pressure of bringing back bad memories to her mother kept her away from even considering the option.

Regardless, daydreaming never hurt anybody.

So, she continued to wonder about the possibilities. Penciling her ideas on stray pieces of paper she had previously used for her exam practice. If she were a hero, she'd have a super cute suit. And she would take on a charming, outgoing personality. Becoming an incredible persona of the works, like her idols. Mt. Lady, Queen of Hearts, Midnight. All of them are femme fatales, women with power and confidence.
